Surfboard Glassing - Pressed Flowers

I made a 9' Longboard with some flowers inlayed for my sister's b-day.
I thought my laminating skills ruined the whole thing but I was relieved to find that it was salvageable. And my sister was stoked on it in the end so it buffed out.

Good stuff! My heart sank in the beginning when you flipped the board over to show the laps. When I do cut laps I cut the over hang so that there’s just enough to reach the tape and maybe 1/2-1” passed it. Then I only worry about wetting out to the tape line. But I’ll try to wet the whole lap if I can. You also don’t need that many relief cuts in the side. Green light also has some charts that tell you how much resin to use when doing boards of different lengths and glass schedules. That’s been pretty helpful for me starting out. I also found that if you try to skimp on resin then you end up having to fix some sort of mistake later on. So it’s worth the extra bit of resin to save yourself the time and headache of fixing things.

The resin company I use has a chart too but doesn’t have wuite enough info. I’ll have to check out the green light charts. Thanks for the tip👍🏼

Haven't shaped a "longboard" in a while. Need one in my quiver again. Longest I have ever ridden or shape is an 8'. And that's more than enough. I personally love from 6' to 6,9. But for the small weak days a longboard is a must.

I personally like the 9’ cuz it’s short enough to do rail to rail turns but long enough to nose ride. Definitely a must for me on small days too👍🏼

Nice save from the initial glass mishap!! I always measure out the resin volume, then add a tad more so I don’t run short….and keep a log of the amounts of resin for each board to reference other boards etc. Board looks nice, keep up the great craftsmanship!! And what brand is your planer?
