Kanaka Kira Race 6

Moving right along into race number 6!! We had really nice conditions for this 16 mile run from Makai Pier to Kaimana Beach. I decided to stay outside to try to ride the bumps rather than go inside the wall. I felt like I was moving pretty good and staying on the surf as much as possible but ended up with a slower pace than I was hoping for. There is soooo much to learn about the lines to take and how the winds, currents and tides play into your over all time. I have not payed much attention to any of that so far and just go with what I feel at the moment...lol I do plan to learn more about all this real soon since I know it makes a big difference.
I had two hulies on this run and they both caught me off guard and you can see the one that I did capture on the video my ama popped while the paddle was on the left side causing a funny balancing act trying to not flip!
My over all time was 2:26:50 finishing 23rd out of 26. I will keep trying harder towards my goal of making a top ten finish this year.

Respect for getting out there and competing. Looking smooth. Before your drifted outside...You ran as close as I would want to be at this point around the corner! Saw a lot of good ama flying. I have saved quite a few left-side paddling huli's by laying my paddle flat on the ama and pressing it back down if I feel it coming. Obviously at a certain point, it makes no sense. Thanx for an awesome video!
