Growing up there was awesome back then. Later, when my husband and I moved close to the Gulf of Mexico it was the same there. Many vacations spent in Hawaii and the Caribbean. Now we live in central Florida and split our time between the Atlantic and the Gulf Coasts. We see and swim with a ton of sea life. It’s not trying to hurt people. That's not true, the shark wasn't hunting him at all. You'd be surprised how common it is for sharks to swim near humans on beaches without people even knowing they are there. Considering the amount of opportunities they have to attack us, if they really hunted humans each year they would kill thousands of people a year instead of a dozen.

Unlikely. Shark attacks on people are extremely rare and people in the ocean are within feet of them all the time and don't even realize it. Sharks do have to exist somewhere for the 23 hours a day they're not eating, ya know. A shark was spotted near surfers in Australia and people were freaking out so the news interviewed the surfers who didn't understand what the big deal was. The surfers said they're always around us. The sharks are probably bored and just wanna watch them surf😂 I don't think I've ever scuba dived in fort Lauderdale and not seen a shark...

Like many people said, The Malibu Artist shows us that great whites are around virtually 100% of the time, yet shark attacks are rare. I have no idea why sometimes they do bite people, but it's definitely a rare exception. I was at a shark conservation event and a shark attack survivor, who was attacked in the waters of California. He said he bumped into the shark, the shark was below him and his arm hit it. It bit his leg and by a miracle, not only did he survive, but he didn't lose his leg like some other survivors. According to him, the shark did not chomp down hard, which is what they normally do. Instead, the shark bit into him and swam with him held in its mouth, the shark carried him off like a dog toy. The survivor punched the eyes and gills, and as you know, the shark will let you go if you do that. In the words of that survivor, the ocean is their home, and if we want to enjoy the water, we just have to keep in mind there is a chance this could happen. I guess people could also go to beaches known to not have sharks, but Malibu ain't that.

Nice story !
@BaguetteFrancaiseDeTradition8 ай бұрын
Your story is very misleading a shark won't always let you free if you punch him in the eyes and gills... it might or it might not it mostly depends on the species of sharks, that individual and how hungry it is... We see it very often in some places of the red sea that are almost depleted of most of their food sources and were when a starved shark attacks if you aren't close to the shore your chance of surviving or close to zero no matter how strong you punch... Again it is the good reflex to have but assuming you are doing it your survival still really only depends on the shark
@LandStrider238 ай бұрын
😂😂😂 dude said he has no idea why they sometimes bite
@callmeishmael30318 ай бұрын
What sharks do is bite to tear the skin and then back off and wait for their prey to bleed out until it's too weak to put up a fight. Then they go in for the kill. A shark doesn't want to have to deal with the fangs and claws of its prey. It also gets a taste from that first bite, and humans don't taste like what they want to eat, so they're more likely to just swim away. In the case of deaths from shark attacks, it more likely to die from bleeding to death rather than being eaten whole. Of course, this isn't always the case, but considering how many hundreds of millions of people go into the sea every year, and how rare shark attacks are, obviously, they're not interested in you as a snack. Otherwise, surfing would be suicidal. This shark has probably swum under quite a few surfers in its lifetime, and sharks are swimming under surfers all the time, here or there.

For those who think sharks don't see people as food, let me tell you, sharks know exactly what we are, humans have been in the ocean since the beginning of time, so we are no different than a seal to them. Sharks are just like any predator, if they are hungry and they think they can take you without getting injured, than you are on the menu. Sharks are opportunistic eaters, they prefer easy meals with less risk of injury such as dead animals, but if they think they can take you without getting hurt than you will get hit. They prefer taking live prey from below, or from behind, such as the surfer it pursued. They are smart enough to know that getting injured is certain death for them, so they almost always try to sneak up from below or behind the prey.
@earthed_soul9 ай бұрын
This is what I think no matter what people say about them being harmless. I would NEVER put myself at risk of anything in any body of water. I don't even want to imagine being bitten by a shark. Why even risk it! Even the thought of swimming in rivers and lakes terrifies me. There's something terrifying about deep water, especially deep dark water....and now crystal clear aqua water. I prefer the local swimming pool every time. At least I get home for my next meal 😐 and another swim another day 😐 I can't fathom what goes on inside the minds of surfers. Terrifying. I hope these two were safe until they got out of the water. People's suggestions on dropping signs from a drone wouldn't work as the noise of the ocean would override that. A very loud siren would be the next bet for gaining attention of the surfers/swimmers but they should be pre-warned to not panic, to just remain still and calm so that the shark can't smell the fear because, as someone else mentioned, they can smell fear hormones, just like wasps can and will continue to attack you when you panic. With wasps, if you just do slow lengthy sweeps with your arms and remain fearless they tend to get the hint and fly away. What makes someone want to get into a body of deep water full of sharks and risk being bitten in half and eaten alive? I will NEVER understand 😐 Someone mentioned surf pools being created. Fantastic idea!! 💡🏄🏽♀️🏄🏿🏄🏻♂️👍🏽

@@earthed_soulwell the thing is not everyone wants to surf human made waves for one. Some people just want to enjoy nature and also surfers try not to think about sharks in the water. We are very aware we are in the sharks home of course and we respect it. Also it is very unlikely to get eaten by a shark, like VERY rare. We humans kill more sharks than sharks have killed humans in a lifetime. So overall, You are probably more likely to die in a car accident than to be eaten by a shark.

We've got heaps of big beauties hanging around the WA coast atm. Some have been spotted in the Swan River but on my shark watch app (I'm a lil' obsessed with them😏), most are along the coast. Some big'uns are really close to the shore too. I accidentally kicked a tiger shark that had been under me in the Guildford part of the Swan and if it wanted me, it would've had me piece of piss. It would've been provoked imo. It's just cruising along and cops a kick to its head...or wherever I got the poor bugger. I thought it was a dolphin at the time but others there said otherwise. At least they waited 'til I was outta the water😆. Plus a tiger had been seen in the spot we were fucking around in the day before and had been hanging around. I never really had any fear of them.
