My standards are really low! If the waves are bad, it's just an opportunity to get stronger paddling.

I live on the Gulf of Mexico, so small, less then great conditions are the norm. I literally watched this video, the next day we had waves but weren’t great. I decided to go and had a pretty fun morning session. One of the other regulars at our spot paddles out because he saw me catching waves, he was also thinking it would be to sheety to paddle out. Ended up having a lot of fun and laughs. About an hour later it started to cleaned up some and turned into a really decent session. So yeah, much better then sitting on the couch. Thanks for the awesome videos, keep them going

the end of this video is very relatable. When i was learning how to surf me and a mate skipped the first day of school to go out surfing mid-storm. At first the surf was completely utterly flat. No surf no nothing. But by the time we had got out there it was solid walls spraying salt everywhere, As a beginner surfer this was both terrifying and heaps of fun. We managed to catch a couple waves but in the time of two hours we mostly just got smashed. It was so much fun though, can't say I recommend surfing in storms though, the conditions weren't great at all lol.

Half the attraction of surfing to me is just being in the ocean. When the waves are shit I just stare out at the ocean and do a bit of bird/fish/shark watching while sitting out the back. Nature is beautiful and there's no rush with surfing. Enjoy the surroundings, take it in. If it's stormy though, I marvel at the power of the ocean while trying desperately not to drown. It's bloody good exercise. #Kook4Life

Funny.... at 50. I started surfing consistently for exercise .because the doctor wanted me to run .and I f****** hate running. Even though I've been surfing for 40 years. but not to the point where I (go for a paddle ) 1 hr and the surfing is extra . minimum 4 days a week .sometimes 7. Turns out I got way the heck better at surfing than I've ever been...great advice!! Just go out!!

Right on bro, turned my nose up at the surf this morning while my mate went in. I instantly thought what am I doing, head over and caught a couple of fun ones! Will not be so picky from now on thats for sure. As they say you've got to hump a few clunkers before you key a Ferrari

Good advice! I live in Italy where your shitty, less than average day is our best condition of the month (IF there is one per month). I’ve never regretted paddling out though, can’t get better at surfing if I never surf or paddle!

In winter, I put the steamer bottom & booties on at home in the warmth. That way if it's wet/cold you only have to put your arms in, do up the zip & you're out there!

i live in south east england and we don't get any surf. Of course 6 hours up the coast there is some great surf but I can't get there easily. BUT tomorrow, a beach half hour away from me is suppossed to have heavy onshore winds creating a 7+ft swell. Its gunna be fucking stormy and raining and windy as fuck but I am willing to give it a go. Sick video mate you earned yourself a sub!

Hi rats, If you want a good advice on how to lower your surfing standards - just look at Israel's wave forecast (or any Mediterranean's forecast). You'll go out in no time :-)
