I rode the longest wave of my life here. From the point all the way to the sand. Did a surfari up the coast with my mate after our HSC. Camped in the caravan park. Good times.

I was the first person to surf this joint in the early 1940's on the worlds first 3 fin i made myself out of WW1 spitfire wing i flew back from the war. Ya not wring about all the sharks there too, i punched 4 of them in the summer of '42. I got one wave from right round the corner all the way to the sand then up the creek right back to my camp site. Stepped off and then put me thongs on, walked straight to the pub and punched out every bloke that didnt see my wave. Some bloke called Simon asked me about the fin setup, I gave him the board and said it goes shit, I reckon 4 fins will go better.

That was some beautiful imagery - thanks mate! I've surfed it quite a few times and it's often like this - sheltered from the wind with clean waves, but a bit fat and slow. A fun wave though. I wouldn't call it one of the most sought after waves on the planet lol . . . just a typical Aussie point break albeit on the slow / weak side. Good for learners and mals, fun fish sessions. When it is really "on" there are better waves nearby like racecourse, or Lennox for a bit of a drive or maybe Currumbin, which on their day are definitely highly sought after.

It's kind of weird that in the UK with our rugged coastline, there is nothing at all that resembles anything like this with the exception of one place in Devon which breaks so, so rarely. But then again in terms of size, Australia is massive so I'd guess you'd get more of them - does that make sense?

I grew up there - born and bred on the Macleay. Crescent was an amazing place to spend my childhood in and we really didn't mind extra people coming in during peak season but there are way too many surfers coming there now. It has gotten completely out of hand since the advent of digital communication and the new highway up the coast. It gets thoroughly packed with 100 plus out mid-week when its on and everyone posting and apping like mad about it. It's just not cool anymore. Crowds like that have been the norm for the last 5 years or so. It was perfectly situated furtherest away from the metropolises of both Sydney and Gold Coast, which made it tougher to get to, but not any more. I feel the loss. Nice vid footage nevertheless. Never take this beautiful stretch of coast for granted. Treat it with respect. Its not a commoddity

@@air.hunter Mad respects to you all down under. That's real brass, may have mentioned I grew up surfing New Smyrna Beach Inlet in Florida, and live 10 years in Hawaii. In Florida lineups it's bull sharks Sand sharks lemon sharks spinner sharks and black tip sharks and shovelnose sharks... In Hawaii tigers were the real threat although we've had them caught along our Coast here in Florida as well. Now we have a lot of great whites starting to ping around our area but they're not part of the surf lineup. Mad respects to all of the crew anywhere in your region of the world. Real core brass, always going to be some type of fish in any lineup, but you can't catch waves sitting on the couch and I'm not staying out of the ocean.
