SURFING IN AVEIRO | VON FROTH

Clean swell lines, uncrowded line-ups, pristine sandy beaches. Aveiro is a mesmerizing surf expedition where Nic Von Rupp gets off the beaten track and escapes usual spots to explore these often-overlooked waves. This new Portugal Back-to-Back ride takes Nic along the region’s beautiful estuary - a national nature reserve called Ria de Aveiro - and through the gorgeous architecture of the town and quaint canals that have earned its “Portuguese Venice” moniker. On top of it all, Mr. Von Froth investigates one of Portugal’s last great surfing secrets, finding perfect beach-break peaks with no one around.

Passo férias em Aveiro, tenho uma costela aveirense só tenho a dizer bem, a parte litoral do distrito é unica até porque de um lado temos a ria e do outro o mar. A nortada é sobretudo no verão, mas posso dizer que em Agosto num dia apanhei altas ondas na Costanova, sem vento parecia óleo o mar. Se os bancos de areia estiverem bons, costanova é das melhores ondas que temos, há quem diga que a onda é o puerto escondido português.

I have been surfing in Aveiro (mostly Barra e Costa Nova) for almost 10 years and I have never seen such waves ^^' Usually, it's either small waves with no power, or big closeout ! I'm going there again in 3 days for 2 weeks, let's hope for good sessions

Has been storming onshore since the middle of october. Once in a while the conditions align and some solid frames appear. The forecast constantly changes though so you might get lucky

@@marcelomacchisurf January should be heavy and consistent along the portuguese coast. It's my first winter here in Aveiro so not sure about local conditions. Western winds should decrease in dominance as winter approaches. September and first week of october was super fun and clean, and then suddenly autumn hit like a brick. Here's to more luck in November 🤞
