Putting a lot of time in at spots and surfing the same spot frequently really helped me learn how to navigate and get waves. Surfing new spots is where it gets tricky for me sometimes.

Yeah but Surfing new spots will improve your wave lecture. We call this Marine Sens in France. Adversity and failure will make you learn. You do not learn by succeeding all the time. Get out of your confort zone if you aim to improve your surfing skills. But do never put yourself or the others in danger by misjudging you ability to surf a advanced, shallow, hollow barreling canvas. Say Hi ! Put a smile on your face and respect Locals they might save your life.

@@hdrnbnt3532 Completely agree! I throughly enjoy surfing new spots and learning new waves. It does improve your wave knowledge and surfing exponentially. Love talking with locals anywhere I go, good vibes all around 🤙🏼 When in doubt, don’t go out. I live by that motto.

Being older and not interested in drama I tend to find those "undercapitalize" areas. The thing is that as soon as I start riding I find myself with some new "friends"! LOL! In the end it's all good!

I think another good tip Kale is for people to try and read the lineup. That is, if there are a few breaks or peaks along a beach, try and go to a peak where the surfers are less experienced. Trying to catch waves with high quality, more experienced surfers means less waves for those at intermediate or beginner level.

Hey Kale. This morning I tried sitting on the inside more and moving forward in that Y shape left or right to identify and catch waves. It unlocked so much for my session! Excited to keep practicing with that approach. Thanks!

Waves that jack up quickly are usually the most difficult to catch. For these you have to guess when to get to your feet. If you wait you just run short of time. Sometimes you should drag your feet when you're ahead of the wave too much....... Always a good show 👍

Just swap to a 5’10 greedy beaver after 4 years of minimals. After 2 sessions I feel confident in paddle and swim around, but i keep missing as the surfer at min 3.50… i will try to focus on positioning as u suggest, maybe it is the key to the next level

Boas dicas. Mahalo.

Step 1: Find a good peeling wave. Most of us are stuck with crappy beach break that closeout half the time. Kale Brock isn't filming at spots like El Porto or HB.

This time last year, I was in Bali ... surfing badly. I went to Cimaja at least 3 times this year and ... surfed badly. So, frustrated, I booked a surf camp in Bali. Day 1, I got a really simple tip that got me more waves in 2 sessions than all the other times that year.
@Ancient88Wisdom7 ай бұрын
What was it?
@Chebab-Chebab7 ай бұрын
@@Ancient88Wisdom There were 3 in total. 1. Shoulders facing forward. I'd picked up a habit of having my shoulders sideways and hadn't noticed. 2. Legs closed whilst paddling for a wave. I knew this, but I didn't realise I did it. 3. I found out this one by myself - I kept on stalling, so I moved my body farther up the board. I'd always been aware of (and guilty of) nose dives, but pop up practise helped prevent this.

@@erdemulubas Best surf session of the year: January 1st. A bit of rain kept most people away, but it cleared up to be the best session of my trip. I got at least 3 lovely long lefts at Padang Padang. Plus, I'd seen a turtle there, too, twice, when I snorkled there.
