Waikiki is so fun when it's big, all kinds of reef breaks pop up that you never knew where there, you surf till your arms fall off. Great memories

How big ?

@ Bowls 8’-12’ with bigger sets! All of Waikiki was a solid 10’-12’! Castles 12’ plus. Before it was referred to as Bowls, Ala Mo was absolutely out of control! Outrigger canoes trying to come in ended up on the rocks. A 16’ Hobie cat trying to make it out went up the face and over backwards. I also remember there was this local who appeared to have a lower body disability, he paddled out and rode the waves in on his belly! A day etched in mind mind forever. I was 18 years old!

Wow that’s wild! Was that the Code red swell? Would’ve been amazing to see 🤙🏽

@ No, I believe the referenced Code Red Swell occurred in the summer of 2022. After reviewing the 2022 swell, yes it was big, but still not close to what I witnessed. I would really like to hear someone else’s memories of the June 74 swell. The carnage at the Ali Wai harbor entrance was spectacular!
