I almost died there in the 70"s in an undertoe. A.spirit told me to relax, and it saved my life. This was when I became aware of the power of the Hawaiian spirits. They are very real and powerful. I was very thankful too them, and they rewarded me, and helped me when ever I asked. They "are very real", but you must have respect.

Oh don't let the beauty of Sunset Beach fool you, it's a very challenging break and if you get caught in the inside impact zone on the shallow reef, you're going to get worked but my husband thinks Sunset Beach is the best wave in the 7 mile miracle of the North Shore when it lines up right.

As beautiful as I've seen at Sunset. I enjoy you showing the ones that didn't make it and wipeouts- means it's not always that easy ( gotta haul). Also, some of those surfers were very respectful, checking behind and kicking out. Great editing and variety of drone shots.

Awesome footage... The slopey sections are so deceiving at Sunset. What looks like a "mushy" section by Ca. standards is moving like a freight train and will pound you and smoke you like one. The best up close footage of Sunset I think I've seen to date. Nicely done.

Broke my red 8'6" Country Surfboards Gun there just paddling over a massive outside west peak when I was there way back in 1990/91. Long swim back in through the rip...other mangled half was way down at Backyards. Solid power and lots of moving water out there!

What a Beautiful video! It seems like the conditions are ideal. Am I correct? Are the waves this good at all tides? Or only high tide? Your channel is definitely a rare find. Weighing 220 lb at 6'3", I wonder what size board would be best at Sunset for this size surf?
@revealhawaiimedia808 Жыл бұрын
Kyle the filmer is 6'2 220 lb and he rides a 7'6 3 inches thick for big waves like this. You can't go wrong with a nice size gun at 8ft plus Sunset

Just remember the pioneers of the North Shore, most from California, many now passed on, guys like Buzzy Trent, Peter Cole, Fred Van Dyke, Peter Van Dyke, Gene Van Dyke, Rick Grigg, Jim Fischer, and then the Hawaiians like George Downing, Rabbit Kekai, and John Kelly.

Forever! We are planning on editing old raw 1970's/80's Sunset footage in a future Sunset Video, Kyle want's to wait until we capture a near perfect day out there this Winter before we do that. Show Then and Now, the similarities and how the beach has changed in the last 50 years.
