Life changing hearing Dick really talk. The man is an inspiration and a spirit guide for the generations to come. RIP Dick brewer, he single handedly changed surfing forever and transformed the lives of many. He is in spirit now and his consciousness will live on forever through the mark he left on his special time of human evolution that I am graced to say I lived in. May there be joy, happiness, confidence, and peace above him, below him, in front of him, behind him, and to each side of him. All around him in his time of spirit transformation into the next world. Mahalo Dick brewer for everything that you have given to us, till the next world may we meet when my time comes.

This is the man the way I remember him. Shaping in some backyard at Sunset Beach. "Da Guys" told him about me. I was so complimented. We hung out a bit, talk story and he built me a wonderful balsa monster gun. Possibly my best "surf shop" memory

What a fantastic interview with Dick, super detailed and intimate. I had the good luck to meet both Dick and Sherry in the late 80's on Kauai, while doing some business over there. If anyone deserves to be in the surf legend pantheon, its Dick for sure. He knew and influenced all the other greats, just as the crazy California boys arrived in the 60's and charged the North Shore. So much of surfing is technical, and dangerous, two factors he was able to hold in perfect tension as he designed his cutting edge boards. Visionaries are scarce these days, Dick will be missed in the line up. Sherry, if per chance you see this, warmest regards from the Santa Barbara crew!

So many legends screwed him over. I rode Brewers in the 80's at Sunset and Backyards.

Thank you for posting this interview. You can tell it was needed and appreciated by Dick. Goes without saying that if you surfed, and were committed to the sport you were also very well aware of who this man was. His boards were top shelf, and you knew that when you rode them, and even well before. Dick Brewer belongs at the historical entrance of the sport of surfing. Few men influenced, and created more meaningful equipment in contribution to surfing than him. Thank you Dick, for all of your work, and the tremendous pleasure that came with and from it. C A
