I picked up a 6'0" x 19.5 x 2.5 PU coming in at 31.5L. Im 5'10", 170lbs and rode it at head high to a few feet over head at Middles. I absolutely LOVE this board and it was exactly what i was looking for. Something i can put more on rail and get a little more HPSB feel out of it. I have the JJF large thruster set in it. Just magic with head high + surf with some oomph. My daily driver is usually a Firewire Glazer ( 5'7" at 33.5L, ) with the Machado Thruster set, or a Seaside ( also 5'7" and 33.5L) with the Controller Quads. As Noel has highlighted, the wider/flatter boards tend to want to catch up around the nose. Perhaps A 5'10" Mini Ghost might be next for me. In chestish high, the 6'0" feels a little long.

I picked mine up 2nd hand and only knew how to surf down the line. But this board changed my life, got the hang of it real quick, throwing cutbacks, roundhouse etc. Had to play around with fins a bit tho and the thruster (performance carbon core) felt too stiff, swapped in two quad rears and it completely changed the board. Also just tried it with the MF Twin+1 and it's even more fun. Prefering thruster in everything overhead though, to not slide out on the bottome turns. I'm 6'3" 95kg, pretty fit and ride it as 6'0" XL (34.x L) Usually surfing decent point break in western NZ. In OH and DOH I wish I had the standard dims with same volume, just more length but trying to figure out if I should go for a Ghost or Ghost Pro for those bigger days now...

Hello Noel, thank you very much for the amazing content. Definitely, you are delivering great value. I would like to ask for advice. I live in southwest Portugal, and I surf all year around (winter 4/3, summer 3/2 wetsuit), beach breaks, and reefs from 2 to 8 feet most of the time with a bit of texture. 3 to 5 times per week. I am 44 years old, fit, 5.9" and something between 160 and 170 pounds depending on the time of the year, and more of a front-footed surfer. I have been surfing the Lost Killer Quiver 5'10 - 30,5L PU for the last 6 years, but I have not entirely enjoyed it. I am Intermediate/advanced. I have 3 questions. I am between the Phantom 5'10 30,10L and the P2 XL 5,10 - 30,8L, it would be a one-board quiver, with one would you recommend? Pyzel is built here by Polen and their boards get pressure dents really easy, do you have any recommendations about what PU glassing should I go for? Should I use more volume because of a thicker glassing? Thanks very much for your answer and all the best in your new home.
@surfnshowreviews7777 Жыл бұрын
I like the P2 better as a 1 board quiver out of those 2 boards. PU/Poly boards pressure dent pretty easy and if you glass them heavy they feel heavy to me and the flex is so so. Maybe just add a 3/4 patch on the deck over the typical 4oz deck.

@@tiagocarvalho983 Finally the board has arrive¡¡¡ I went for the P2 in 5.11" 30.2L. The first impression when I received and I put it under my arm, it was: my good this is a lot more narrow than my previous Lost Killer Quiver 5.10" 30.5L. Ones that I got into the water, I got a huge positive surprise. This ones 1" wide that I went down, It is exactly what I need it. The board feels alive and the slimmer front of the board, allows me to move it much better. I was mega happy after the first wave, I felt a instant connection with the board. I landed in the sweet sport right away and I could put the board right where I wanted. By the way, even if the board is 1" longer than my previous board, it feels a lot shorter in a really good way. About the speed, it is fast in smaller surf and really fast, holding really well to the wall in bigger punchy surf. I am using the FCS II Performer fins and it feels great, soon I will experimenting with a twin + trailer. Maybe the MR. I totally recommend the board. The only thing that I have to get use to is to the nose rocker. I think that I could do with a bit more of rocker, not much, but a bit more. I wanted to thank Noel, for helping me choosing. I have a question please. I have a custom 5’9x19.25.x2.44 P2 comes in at 29 ltrs. Running mostly AM1 honeycomb futures. I find it performs better on my backhand..it’s tight in the pocket and has a bite and release feel to it when you engage off the tail and in the bowl, but I’m not getting that same response on my front side. It feels like I’m not sinking the rail quick enough. You talk about adapting your surfing to the board when you first got it, and the same not sinking the rail feeling. Can you elaborate on how you adjusted(?) to overcome this? I think I just need to tweak my technique around the design. I think the dims are right but I’m used to riding 27.5ish ltr HPSBs, so it could still be me adjusting. For context, I’m 77kg, 176cm tall and experienced but 40 this year. Appreciate any help, you’re show is the best out there by miles!
@surfnshowreviews77774 жыл бұрын
For me to adjust I just kept surfing it.... after a few waves or 1 session I got used to it and started pushing a little harder. I suggest committing more to your frontside turns....your rail turns will be solid. You can also try a neutral template fin... that will help you get on rail a little quicker... then lean in to it harder. The extra foam you went up can take time to get used too.

I have a carver w C7 2trucks and I can pump and power slide really well. But..on my surfboard..I push on the tail on it makes me fall backwards and the board goes forward. Joseph Hatami Ride your Carver and drive it off the tail.... sit back on your back foot hard and generate seed from the tail. Stop doing power slides on your Carver for now... do the same turn on your Carver that you like to slide the tail on and keep your weight heavy on your back foot and it will fix your problem. Carvers and Surf Skates in general are heavily driven by your front foot.... so loosen the back truck a bit and tighten the front truck... now drive it off your back foot.
