I just got into surfskating after watching your videos, Steve’s videos, Shane, and the great Carver vids. Within the last 2 weeks already have two Carver boards, both with CX, and have also ordered a set of wheels & bushings from Surfskate Love. And Jehu bearings from online. I used to skateboard but never could do all the tricks. Just like cruising. Surfed when I lived on the coast. Surfskating is a blast. Wish we had a pump track where I live. Looks like fun !

This is amazing to see! Thanks for the feedback and updates and welcome to the surfskate community!!! I am a big fan of Bronson bearings, when you need a new set give a pair of ceramics a try, that’s what’s in my skates and by far the shop favorite!

Steve cut the product-understanding learning curve of surfskating down to very straight forward simple terms, which pointed me to Carver without hesitation. I’ve bought the new Riptide CX bushings and replaced the upper and lower cupped washers with flat ones. The board is everything I could’ve imagined now. Loved this video! Just subbed too.

Great review. I have the same Carver board as you. I also have a Waterborne setup. I don't use then enough. This is a good push to get out there. I don't think I have enough experience yet to notice a change in wheels or bushings on a surfskate but I will definitely support Steve when the time comes. He does so much for the community. Stay Rad Sir.

Thanks for the rad feedback and support my man, working hard on upping my content quality - so for you to say this inspires you to go ride your Surfskate's - that really psyches me up!!!! All I know are my Carver's and traditional skates. The Swallowtail was my very first skate ever, yeah as an adult at 50+ I got my first skate. Ultimately the Greenroom followed but once I surfed concrete waves at skateparks I had to have the C5. Having reversed the kingpin it went everywhere with me - warping the original deck. Then I built a few traditional old school retro's learning to get onto the coping. The wide Indies offer up so much more real estate to learn 50/50's on, but after getting them down on the mini with the Natas, I was back to the C5. Locking in coping is tight not sure the width on them but I would love to see the development of a wider maybe like a 169 style version. Curfskate trucks are on my radar but a set of those cost as much as a pair of new badass builds at the shop. Those Holiday decks Peralta had for this season were so tempting when they came thru... luckily they sold out like lightning.

Hi, great video. I have a Carver Taylor Knox C7 fitted with Surfskate Love 80a 70mm wheels, been using them for around 3-4 months now. I'm doing mainly surf training and have group training with other riders that have mainly Yow/Slide surfskates, progressing FS BS Snap, FS BS slide, cutbacks, bottom turn etc etc on ramps and concrete surface. The Surfskate Love wheels are great, I love them, plenty of grip, I can lean deep into both toe and heel rails with confidence, push those slide manoeuvres when needed, my riding has improved massively since fitting them, I def prefer them to the Carver Roundhouse Eco's that came with the complete board. Be interesting to see how they perform over the year and if there is any degradation or damage from long term use. They look great to, what's not to like or love about them! 😉

Right?!? Thanks for watching and the comments! Sounds like you are progressing awesomely! How long has your surf skate group been active? That’s amazing!

Interesting with the RipTide bushings, I have been using Orangatang knuckles on my Carver CX and C5 and they had always performed excellent and lasts forever. About Steve’s wheel’s, I’m thinking aren’t they just a love child between Seismic and Loaded with a price in between. They all performs good on rough ground in range the of 65 -70 mm, durometer scale 78-80. But on hard concrete they just sucks and bogs down. One of my favorite wheels are the Seismic Cry babies 60mm 88a it’s the old version, newer ones are now 62mm. They are marketing as free ride wheel that slides ummhh not really, okay freeride down a hill they slides. So I find them extremely excellent because they are not to big and wide. I would say something in between a classic skate and cruiser wheel. They have very similar feel and outlay as the Bones rough riders, which is a really good wheel. They feel hard but don’t ruin the surfskate feeling, they are fast and nimble in a bowl. I bought the Powell Peralta dragon wheels you mentioned and in my opinion a little overrated they feel soft especially on concrete. I like the 57mm ELITE NOMADS 95A OJ wheel so much more. I have 20 wheels lying around and probably owned another 10 wheels. I just ordered some Loaded skiff wheels, been eying them for years, maybe they will be the Holy grail of my quest to find the one wheel for bowl riding with a surfskate feel. Anyway long story and probably won’t skate that much because the waves 🌊 on my beautiful island 🏝 are absolutely on fire this next week. Point break clean 4-6+ light offshore wind. Hopefully 300m rides and no sharks 🦈. As always good stuff coming from you channel.

Thanks Rex for the input and feedback! The surf sounds like is going to be fire no doubt, I just had my first powder day of the season Friday! I have not experimented with near the wheel sets that you have for sure wow! I did fall in love with the Bones rough rider and still like the soft smooth feel of them. If replacing the Roundhouse stock set this are a great upgrade to me. The new bushings and wheel have the Swallowtail getting more love now from me no doubt. They did feel much stickier and slower on the gatorskin then the asphalt. I rode them at a surfy park with varied surfaces and again found them a great upgrade from stock. I have not played around with different wheels on my CX/C7 set ups. The C5 park set up I have had a few wheels on now, I was able to try out different wheels at the shop before deciding the rough riders were my favorite. Still digging the dragons on the mini ramp at the shop now tho. Been wet here so not much skating atm - got some storm chasing to do!

How do you think the surfskate love wheels compare to the orangatang wheels, like 4president and lovehandles? They look really similar.
@boisebroncoadventures Жыл бұрын
I would say pretty close on the orangatangs not sure on the others. I really have very little to compare them too as these are replacements for the stock wheels on my C5 and C7 set ups
