If you're a medical student, PA student, nursing student, or just someone interested in looking for a guide on what equipment to buy to practice suturing or other surgical skills at home, this is the perfect video for you. In this video, Dr. Han, a CT surgery resident who commonly leads suture simulations breaks down what the essential and the possible optional tools you need for practicing are. You don't need to wait until your first day in the OR to find out how you should be practicing. This video contains a wealth of information you won't find anywhere else, for example, Dr. Han does not recommend using a suture pad. However, he has a good reason that he explains in this video!
Enjoy!

Excellent presentation! I would suggest that the beginner start with braided silk suture material before moving on to monofilament varieties. Those in high school who may be considering a future in medicine or surgery should consider beginning the process of training their non-dominant hands before medical school. Two of the most technically-adept cardiac surgeons whom I have known were ambidextrous. It's a useful attribute but certainly not required to achieve superb results.
