surgery and recovery vlog ☻ fibroadenoma removal (partial mastectomy) process and healing ౨ৎ

currently recovering and my biopsy result finally came in! it's benign so i don't have anything to worry about anymore ᡣ𐭩
i was diagnosed with a giant fibroadenoma (about 8cm in size) and had a partial mastectomy procedure.
there will surely be changes and i'm currently working on my view of my body image.
i'm glad i have my people during this tough time :)
i wanted to share this to let the people who are going through this kind of situation know that it's going to be okay. i also want this to kind of serve as a guide on the process because when i first started this journey, i really had no idea what to do and it caused minor delays because i was too overwhelmed and intimidated with the process.
what i did:
1. i first got it checked when it was about 1cm only but the doctor advised me to do nothing about it that time and just observe it for 6 months (this is the usual time frame for observing a lump)
2. i transferred to a private hospital and got checked by an gynecologist first then got endorsed to a breast surgeon/breast specialist
3. there are fibroadenoma that doesn't need operation/removal but mine is constantly growing so i have to undergo surgery
4. when i confirmed about the operation, i was given a list of laboratory procedures that i need to do before my surgery. it serves as like a clearance which is only valid for 2 weeks
5. i checked with my hmo what will be covered. in my case, everything is covered except the post-op medicines (around ₱500-₱1000) and consultations (₱1500 for every appointment)
6. after the operation, i had a follow up checkup (they replaced the dressing + drained the liquid inside)
7. note: be sure to put pressure on the area where the lump was removed to avoid it from collecting liquid (it will hurt for the first days but bearable)
remember to always do self check. you can find guides online how to do breast check on yourself.
