I would never in my life allow any type of procedure to be done on me without mandating pain medication. I am beyond appalled. I am so sorry that these nasty idiots did this! Ugh there’s absolutely no reason for them to deny you real actual pain medication. You are one of the strongest people in the world, you are amazing. I hope that you are healing well.

In 1998, at a military exercise, I had a hangman’s fracture (C2 fracture) after I was t-boned by another vehicle. Luckily I was in a F-150, but the impact broke the driver’s side wheel off from the axle. My door was ajar, so I slipped out onto the pavement. I was seen my a military Ortho-Spine, and he was going to fuse my fracture, but I asked for a HALO. I knew with the fusion, the vertebrae above and below the fusion would have to take up the slack, so it would deteriorate over the years. So, for six months I wore the HALO and it didn’t bother me at all. Sleeping took some invention and ingenuity. I cut a piece of foam to wedge in between the vertical bars in the back to brace my head, instead of my head being suspended by the brackets and pins in my head.

Hi, my mother has just had a terrible fall and C2 fracture as well. Doctors suggest surgery vs Halo but I’m not surgery pro. But I don’t know how difficult life is with a Halo , could you please give me some advice / suggestions. Please I need any help as I can’t bear to see my mother in pain, it hurts me a lot as well. You were lucky to get Valium. All I got was a local anaesthetic. May as well have given me a lollipop to suck on. The pain I had was like having my head in a vice. Once on, the tingling in my hands went. Had mine in for 20 weeks. Back at work that night for my night shift. That was the 1990s in the RAF. Zero after care. They did give me a neck collar which was used for a day. Sounds like you had a good experience.

That must really be an adventure. Some while back I acquired a nearly complete Halo vest frame and horseshoe. After fabricating the parts needed to complete the assembly I tried it on for about a day and a half. This was a sensation. However without a cover story to explain the new fashion accessory I had to take it off to continue my course in the world. It is a pity that I am not permitted to trade with someone that does not enjoy the sensation for a season. But some time soon I will find that cover story.

I had halo when I was 13 broke my neck riding at the dunes...I still have the scars on my forehead...When do you get it off? I remember when got my off felt like bolder was lifted off my head.

I hated it but now I can be thankful because I think it helped with my healing. I didn’t move as much so my injuries could heal.

Hey I made a video about sleeping in the halo! I slept in a reclining chair that is very soft. I wasn't able to lay flat on a bed so this is what worked best for me.

Hey! I have a video on my channel explaining how I did this :) I went to have it washed by someone with a special chair. I could only bathe from waist down and used a wash rag for around the halo ❤️

I can’t believe it, but they only gave me Valium for the installation. It was probably the worst part.

I am Italian and I find it absurd that here in Italy they will give you antibiotics like candies but they won't give you morphine or strong painkillers not even after surgery. I had a nose job and I was hallucinating from the pain but I just got ordinary painkillers throughout all my 5 days at the hospital. Same with the endometriosis surgery. There is so much nonsense

They wouldn't give you pain killers!!?? What kind of hospital was that!!?? Are you in the U.S? I'm up here in Canada and I'm allowed to take hydro-morphine, or T3's, or regular Tylenol.. I chose the regular Tylenol because I usually take cannabis for my chronic pain.. I just needed something to take away the nagging ache between my shoulder blades.
