As a Surinamese, i am happy that you gave a market tour. I haven't gone to the central market in ages. And in general it is slowly becoming less of a common thing here in Suriname i noticed. I also want to apologize for the way that woman spoke to you, in the beginning of the vid. Next time you should visit Saoenah market. There the people are more used to vloggers and they have lots of good Javanese/Indonesian food. And they are also super kind.

Beautiful vlog of my country, Surinam! The Maroon Market with all kinds of natural medicines is fascinating. The Centrale Market isn't as busy anymore, as many people now prefer the Kwatta Market on Wednesdays and Sundays. I love listening to your father-in-law; he's incredibly intelligent and well-read, with extensive knowledge of different countries and cultures. ---

@gohanoo86015 ай бұрын

Some of these women at that first market (marroon market) are always very rude. It’s really sad to see the way they behave, especially towards visitors of other countries. Sorry for that. This is not helping Suriname as a tourist destination. Surinamese people really need to realize their behavior is hurting our tourism. They need some behavioral and friendliness classes. 😂 keep doing what you do Danny! Most Surinamese don’t even visit these markets anymore, they rather go to the markets in their neighborhoods. I believe the first market and maybe also the central market will soon close down, and they will create a more tourist friendly area instead which is a good thing. Cant wait for this to happen.

Not all Surinamese, just the people at the Maroon market. He wouldn't encounter this problem at the Chinese, Javanese and Kwatta markets. You can search them up on KZbin too, you'll see that people don't mind being recorded.
