I've owned a 2016 Surly ICT for about a year now and put a lot of miles on it. In this video, I go over the things I like and dislike about the bike and compare it to the newer model. If you've been thinking about getting a fat bike and have considered the Ice Cream Truck, this video will help you understand if the bike is for you.

Thank you for your review. I recently bought an ICT. It is my first fat bike and I love it! Props for riding single speed! I am a heavy guy who definitely benefits from the gears while climbing, heh.

I just got a ‘21 ICT. First upgrade was Veetire Snowshoe 2xl’s. I’ve been wanting an ICT since they came out, along with the tires. I’m super happy with the bike! Great video 👍

Just took possession of my 2021 ICT. I actually traded for a 2018 Carbon Mukluk. In the end, I just wanted a good tough steel bike. I too feels its a tremendous value, durable and adaptable. I'm also a sucker for anything Surly makes. I love their approach to cycling and find homage with their marketing messages. I'm adding Paul Klampers to mine, Soma Dream sweep back bars and Paul Canti brake levers. I've only had mine for one week and I already love it.

Sounds like it’ll be a sweet build. I agree on Surly, it’s why I own this and a Karate Monkey. I’ve considered getting some Jones Loops for the ICT for the winter, I love how they steer in the snow.

Fantastic bikes! Love my 2020! The older “jump bar” bikes stand the test of time. I bought a used 2014 Pugsley and it is also still fantastic. I’d love to track down one of these older ICT’s in the yellow color. Nice overview!

I had a Pugs for a bit and didn’t love it, but I know it has a bit of a cult following so maybe it just wasn’t for my riding style. If I find a good deal on a newer ICT frame I’d probably swap everything over to it

I managed to get my hands on a 2021 Buttermint Green version. I went back and forth this year between the Mukluk and the ICT, but the SLX 12 speed was just too nice to pass up. Took it out for 12 miles of snowy singletrack last week and had a blast. I know people say you can't tell the difference in winter, but man steel feels nice.

The Mukluk is a great bike, I’ve owned two of them. But value wise you’re right the ICT is pretty hard to pass up and is just a little less bikepack/touring oriented.

Hello there, I absolutely love your videos and thank you for taking the time for creating and posting them for us to enjoy and learn from. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 2016 Surly ICT just like yours and am loving it! I really would love to add a dropper to it but so far the only measurement I can say for sure is correct is the seatpost diameter which is 30.9 mm. If you happen to know the other measurements so I know I'm buying the correct size dropper I would greatly appreciate it thanks again!

It will depend on your frame size, seat post height, etc. but I ended up putting a PNW Cascade 150 on mine and it worked great. PNW actually has a really good guide to getting the necessary measurements that makes it simple.

@@RideYearRound Thanks so much for your quick response and vast knowledge! The PNW Cascade is actually the exact dropper I was looking at. I'll look again at their charts and go from there, thanks again✌

I don’t consider running a fat bike year round to be crazy. There’s a lot of plus points to riding fat bikes.

Totally agree, but most people think it’s a crazy idea when they first try it haha.

Rockshox Bluto. Would love a Mastodon, but it’s at the bottom of my bike “want” list right now haha.

I’m not sure I understand that it can be made single speed. Can’t all bikes be made single speed? You remove the cassette/freewheel, and replace with a single gear
