If you scroll through shorts it gets a view even if you pass it by after 2 seconds. Whilst you can get a lot of views it doesn't usually turn into lots of subscribers who will watch your longer videos. I think you proved that when you viewed his ordinary videos. I do remember seeing a channel where someone was recording shots off Sky sports with their phone. Got a lot of views though.
