Chest rigs all the way! I loved using my dpm Arktis velcro chest rig in Afghan (2003), still running it for airsoft today 👍

Over here in straya back 2000ish, our webbing would roughly be set up as 2 Steyr pouched left hip for mags, right hip minimi pouch for EO, rear minimi pouch for link for the gunner, and 2x 1 quart water bottle pouches ofset left and right of the rear minimi pouch in general! Of course some bigger boys could squeeze in an extra minimi pouch at the back

I used 58 pattern webbing at cadet's, PLCE in the TA and still mostly use a belt kit or simple chestrig for Airsoft unless game rules give a benefit to plates in which case my Emerson JPC does nicely.

I really like my plate carrier but it’s largely pointless unless it’s for a specific impression or as you say the rules give you extra benefits!

@@AnvilAirsoftTV at Gunman Descent you got 1 extra bandage (life) for wearing plates and 1 more for wearing a helmet so it was worth it but I've ended up mostly using a simple belt kit of Osprey pouches on an old guarder belt with 50mm velcro inside to keep them from sliding around.

Surplus are tested and proven and work great, I use a 1990's SADF suplus M83 battle jacket, works perfect for an all day game. Loads of carrying capacity and very durable!

PLCE never let me down when i was using it. Once its set up right it is fantastic. Currently i have a set of US alice webbing i use for my 'tears of the sun' impression and thats pretty solid too.

@@AnvilAirsoftTV as i discovered the alice ammo pouches can fit 3 polymer mags into them side by side fairly eaily and will happily hold a bfg etc. Though i got the alice 'buttpack' and that thing is massive and really uncomfortable if loaded up loads (give me plce utility pouches anyday)

Your custom set is very much like the one I’ve got, it’s amazing to think how good condition it’s in for something that probably has had a very hard life! I would guess that cost the original owner somewhere in the £100’s to have had made !

It’s a great bit of kit. The only thing really wrong with it was some damage to the bottoms of the left mag pouches. We put internal leather patches in. I love that it has proper history.

I use Arktis in DPM and in US Woodland and usually stuff my Pistol in the Pocket behind the Large Utility Pouch Been playing for 0ver 13 years and find no need for any fancy Plate Carrier

I think most people don’t need a plate carrier. It’s become the defacto load carrying equipment for players and virtually none have any weight of plates in them.

I privately purchased an ops vest same as the one you have and went to afghan with it. Imagine my horror when the body armour I was issued didn't fit over it. Much consternation. I should have tried it before deploying. Oopsie.

i use a HSGI suregrip belt and SSO Smersh harness, possible the most comfortable setup ive used so far. but also just picked up a SADF Chest rig off a friend :)

I like Smersh harnesses. I’d prefer several smaller rear pouches than the butt pack though.

I made the mistake of getting all the gear, so gloves, sling, plate carrier, pouches, now im just running with my pouches on a belt with a pistol holster no sling. Works great for me

I only despise Velcro because using it every day it wears out inside of 12 months and then is junk unless fastex clips are also attached as a backup or for me the primary

I got a civilian US M81 style chest rig, I use it with other US kit as it works, its comfy and fits over my IOTV vest, although I would liks some ALICE

If you ever see one pick up an RMP Close protection vest, nice slim DPM mesh vest, 4 mags, radio, 2x flashbangs, pistol holster, 2x pistol mags and a baton pouch.

There are some plastic ‘cadet’ helmets out there but I wouldn’t call them Good...

Hi guys, really enjoyed this one! Echoes a lot my own thoughts although I do love a belt full if pouches and ha easy a couple of very warm spots for 58 webbing and osprey - especially pouched out any road up! Maybe you can help me track down something that’s proving much harder to track down than makes any reasonable sense! I have an S10 set up with new yellow thick poly-something lenses for airsoft and it works brilliantly well! The ori-nasal mask kills fogging dead! So impressed! I’ve also added a fan into the canister but after forgetting to turn it on and no fog on a warm sunny skirmish! Very happy! What I’m trying to track down is a 58 water bottle cap with the S10 straw fitting. The GSR one is everywhere and plenty of no straw caps but any idea gents where I can get an s10 straw cap? There were at least 100,000 made so where have they all gone? Can’t have all paired off like ping pong balls to mate can they? Maybe that’s where all the GSR kids have spawned from? Any help will be gratefully received! Gadge, I me5 you at at Combat UK”S Tuddenham game last year when you were there for ASG, I was the MTP guy with ASG everything, you took a pic and did a short bio/article - anyway, it was a pleasure! That’s an old Arktis Chest Rig. eBay is probably your best bet.

@@AnvilAirsoftTV I couldn't find that type but I did find the DPM one after that with the velcro and buckles for $15.00 + shipping it came to $36.00 from Poland. The ad said they were sold in lots 5 to a lot so if I have 5 that's 1 for me 4 to sell $15-$20 bucks each I get mine free and cover the cost with a tidy little profit for my troubles. I'll let you know next week how many show up.

@@AnvilAirsoftTV Update: My chest rig came in the post today and I think it's one of the best pieces of surplus kit I own. The quality is outstanding as it should be being made in the UK. Various brands like Condor make copies but I don't think they come close to the quality of this rig. They only sent one and that's okay I only needed one and for $36.00 bucks it was well worth the money. I love the smell of military surplus in the morning.

Used an osprey for a year and it was utter dog shit caused me a nasty bout of heat exhaustion. Very good if you need heavy armour for afghan but for anything else their useless.
