Live pretty close to Mallard lake...Used to crawdad fish when a kid on Creve Coure before it became a Park...I remember Old Black ladies on a long wooden dock that were always fishing out there and they welcomed the crawdads...They were always so friendly and it was such a fun time...That's before all the haters and dividers...Drank many a 3.2 beers too when I grew up and the blue laws wouldn't let anybody sell 5%...Churches didn't like it...There were at least 2 - 3 bars out there then...Look at it now...lol

This is one of my favorite spots. If you go back, try dead minnows or frogs and the gar just take it really quick.

I caught an 8 lb channel cat in that spot from the bank. Frozen shrimp and an egg sinker in high water.

@@ShowMetheHawgs I need a good place to catch catfish from shore in the St. Louis area on 5/29 for a 5 hour tournament I’m in. Preferably a safe area and not one of the big rivers. Any suggestions?
@ShowMetheHawgs3 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. Is there a slot you have to meet to record fish?
@CatchingFins3 жыл бұрын
@@ShowMetheHawgs Nope. It’s just a fun online tournament between 8 small KZbinrs to help promote our channels. All for fun. But I don’t want to get skunked 😬😬

If you want to put up your numbers regardless of size I put my money on Lake 7 at Busch wildlife. They stock that lake every 2 to 3 weeks and I usually do great out there. Last year I took my son out there early in the morning and we caught nearly 20 fish in three hours of fishing. For size, lakes 33, 35 and 38 at Busch wildlife have bigger channels. Also at lake 33, there are apparently good flathead numbers. I caught a monster out there last year. It’s really the only time I’ve tried but I’ve heard of other anglers pulling good numbers of flats out of 33.

That is a decent spot, I kayak up into their a lot

Nice. I really want to paddle around out there on my kayak. It’s beautiful over there. Do you launch on Creve Coeur Lake? Noticed there’s a couple ramps on the lake.

@@ShowMetheHawgs If you look on Google maps, I put in on the lake right by the Taco Bell shelter at the south end of the beach.

I’m looking to move to Ballwin in December and can’t wait to get my Missouri fishing license.

No way, I live in Ballwin. Any tips for local catfish?
@SwanseaTitanFan3 жыл бұрын
Jonathan, since I moved back in November I have only trout and crappie fished but I here the local parks are stocked with fair sized catfish. I haven’t gone myself but I live across the road from Ballwin park but haven’t fished it yet. I might walk over there after work one evening and see what I can catch. I’ll let you know.

Looks like you are right handed. If you flip the crank on the reel to the other side you 1: don’t have to switch hands after the cast 2: can instantly reel up your slack line 3: use your dominant hand to set the hook with authority and play out the fight like a boss. Have fun.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did that some time ago. Took a few trips to get used to it but now it’s awkward if I use reels with the handle on the right side. LOL It’s how I always did it until a couple years ago.

Fun Fact: I took the rentable canoe to this spillway and was able to slide the canoe up the concrete spillway then over to Bass lake. 😂

lol nice. I’ve fished that area a couple times but never in my kayak. I should fix that.
