My general notion is that it's SAFE. The lyrics, song structure, music video staging, are all pretty well done, but safe. I hope they can make it more unique.

I think it may be one of the best voices that has ever been to Eurovision, its utterly impressive, elevates a solid french ballad into high heavens. Very promising, its not impossible for something like this to win (even if i would preffer something more original)

2:35 SLIMANE isn't singing that he doesn't know why he loves her, but that he loves her and that he doesn't know why he can't help but keep thinking about a certain scene (towards the end) where this and that happened...

The song is an absolute winner the climax of the song represents the singers intense emotional connection to the song. Slimane also has vocals comparable to that of gjorns tears. Him and gjorn have undoubtedly the best vocals to have been heard on Eurovision. Everything about the song is perfect, the build, the vocals, the emotion and the pace. Simply put this song was put out to make the standard unreachable and was psychological it will not make many songs feel as good.

I adore the song, have been listening to it since it came out and humming the chorus the rest of the time when not listening 😂 For me, I was immediately grabbed when I first heard it and it kept me listening til the end. Great job, France, and as the member of Big 5 with lowest interest in Eurovision by the public, I commend the delegation for trying this hard!!

For some reason I think that this performance will be in the league of Voila. They have a different vibe ofc. Voila was more classic and Mon amour is more modern , but they shocked me emotionally towards the end of the song , in a very similar way. With the live performance that we saw , we can already tell this is a jury top 3. Now about the public I don't know. With the studio recording in Spotify i think it will be top 10 but not top 5. But with this live performance that we heard , I cant imagine someone not being mived , towards the end of the song. Top 5 in televoting is possible and if live at esc with no filters at all , his voice is even more emotional, I can see winning potential.

My general notion is that it's a very good song, his voice and singing reminds me of Due Vite a little bit. It's very sentimental which is Eurovision esque, and the best part of the song is definitely the chorus. The ending part is not for me, but it'll definitely be a great song to hear at Eurovision.

As a person who has mandatory French lessons, mostly forgotten, I was actually negatively surprised that I could at least recognize a whole bunch of words, cause it gave me a feeling that the song is very basic. Luckily, when checking out the actual lyrics and the meaning behind them, my fears were extinguished.

As a french i can say that the lyrics are really ok. Not a masterpiece, but the lyrics makes sense, make a story and there is no "oh this part is akward" just for a rime. The message is quite clear : he is not anymore with the person he loves, something happened (probably something he did wrong) the person left him alone. He suffers a lot of it, he keep remembering their memories and what happened and cant move on. He he will wait for this person no matter what cause he is still in love. Quite classical lyrics but with the voice and the melody it fits well and seem really sincere.

Je trouve pas que cette chanson soit un cliché, elle touche au coeur directement. Les paroles sont directes et tout de suite on a les images mentales qui nous viennent. Une bonne chanson n'est pas forcément faites avec des mots très compliqués, il faut la passion et le coeur mit dedans. Slimane est connecté à cette chanson, c'est un compositeur et interprète, sachant les épreuves qu il a vécut récemment, c'est normal qu il a choisit cette chanson. Les gens à l international ne connaissent pas trop les chanteurs français n'écoutez pas que cette musique mais allez vous renseigner et montrer aux gens, les autres chansons qu il chante et ses duos avec Vitaa.

I agree with almost everything you say. About the lyrics, I would not say they're cliché but they're simple, they come from his heart. I think it's fine: most of the people don't speak French and will recognise a few words like "Je t'aime, mon amour, Paris, oui oui baguette". The most important in my opinion is he can give emotions with his voice, his gesture, the staging... like Marco Mengoni, Salvador Sobral, or Ochman for Poland 2022. We have yet 40 other contestants to meet to know if it is a good choice from the French delegation. :)

I'm a sucker for male ballads, so I'm really happy with this song. It doesn't have to be a jury song alone. This year Marco proved that you can be just as successful with the audience if you can connect with them; in fact, this is something that Italy does fairly well. France 2021 can be another example. For me, I'm missing some spice in the music, it feels like an afterthought. Also, he seems to be a charismatic performer, but they can't use this staging. It's a lovechild between Barbara Pravi and La Zarra, dressed as Dotter or that one song from 2021 I can't remember for the life of me. But it's still a long way to the contest, so I'm not too worried about it now. Overall, as a first song of the season, I really enjoy it. And though I love my male ballads from Italy, I hope they'll send something different this year so I can root for both!

The lyrics are so dumb and annoying, songs must be artsy to stand out. This directness kills all. And overall this choice is very questionable. Slimane has nothing to prove at Eurovision, he has very successful career in his country. ESC can offer an international praise, but there must be some uniqueness. If this song were very French yet unoriginal, this could pass as Barbara did. But it’s not that French instead of very basic lyrics. I don't know what aims the French broadcaster.
