Congratulations. I had my firstborn at a hospital in london when i was fairly young. I was so unprepared, and had complete trust in the doctors and nurses. I was young and healthy but for some reason strapped up to monitors, checked several times for dilation and ultimately pressured into a c-section. My second was a surprise, but i was so traumatized from the first birth all i could think about was how the hell can i go through that again. After lots of searching and praying we decided to have a homebirth in America. It was perfect in everywhere. No checking dilation, and just complete trust in your body knowing what it needs to do. He came out within 30 minutes of me getting in the pool. No pushing, no tears. No one rushed to pull him out. We all just sat and watched him for a minute under the water. He came out healthy and perfect. If you are healthy and can do a homebirth in the future, go for it. There is nothing like it. The comfort, love and level of care is unmatched.

Loved hearing how you stood up for yourself and listened to your body, gives me the confidence to do the same 😄 I'm not due for months but I'm so excited for labour and can't stop watching positive hypnobirthing stories. Congrats on your bub 🥰

Thank you for emphasising the need to ADVOCATE for yourself! I’m so glad I’m putting the time to learn about my body. Something that I really need to work on is getting more active. I’ve been trying to walk often... however, I have horrible pelvic pain which make being active extremely uncomfortable and painful 😣

Aww...thank you for sharing your delivery story...MashaAllah it's so comforting to hear such a positive labor story and It was beautiful how you advocated for yourself. Congratulations!!! May Allah(SWT) continue to bless you and your family. Aameen.

Congrats on your new born. Happy to hear that you advocated for yourself. I had the same experience with my sister.... her body was telling her to push and the midwife was telling her not to....all this time she was fully dilated. She didn’t even tell my sister that she was fully dilated. It was her body that was telling her to push. That blew my mind.

I had a suspension that you were pregnant from the way you were filming your last few videos. Congratulations to you and your husband. I'm glad you stood up for yourself. Idk about the UK, but here in the US, doctors dismiss black women and their pain. I can't imagine giving birth to my first child without my husband or my mom being around. I'm proud of you for handling this difficult situation, and putting your trust in God and your knowledge. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Mothers I would suggest speaking to your midwife and writing your birth plan. Also practice breathing techniques with your partner and practice different labouring position with your husband. Involve your husband in the process so he can advocate for you just incase you can’t. I put on my birthing plan to delay cord clamping and to have skin to skin straight away. I also included for my husband to have skin to skin. Alhamdulilah my birth plan happened as I written it. Allah has granted us our wishes Alhamdulilah. Skin to skin was beautiful the nurse gave us time.

This is not my biggest priority right now, but, as a female in mid 20s, from an Asian background, with a plethora of problems, and growing up with abuse which is still ongoing, and also the added pressures of non diagnosed health problems, horrendous skin conditions, chronic pains and I am typing through period pains so i can never understand how women go through labour and carry on. I feel so inferior and alien to normal people especially women. Can you please explain the pains and symptoms? I want to understand how normal women manage? I find this very terrifying to say the least! Congratulations and bravo dear sister! Xx
