That's nice about your new birdies. But, isn't Lacey due to have that baby soon? I have only been watching your videos for about a week, but as a grandma aged woman, I am mostly interested in how the human babies are doing. I watched the video in which Lacey (spelling?) was talking about her food allergies and inflammation last night. My daughter has been having troubles recently, and her new doctor brought up food allergies. Thanks for your sweet openness. You are a charming and loving woman.

I was kind of ticked off when one of the workers at my post office opened my box and held my chicks and didn't have a problem telling me about it. I paid for them and want them as disease and germ free as possible. Coincidently six of them died and I never had that happen prior with any other chick that I ordered.Of course I have no proof that it was because of that.
@StoneKathryn2 жыл бұрын
@@inannashu689 I'm sorry to hear that they died. I'd be okay with a postal worker holding my chicks. They are very cute when they are a day old. One Easter a basket was on our steps with chicks in it. We were very young and we didn't know how to take care of the chicks and they didn't survive the night. It was sad. I never knew who left them for us.

Bourbon Reds are wonderful turkeys. Very sweet, smart and excellent foragers. I had a flock of 40. They're better at mothering than other turkey breeds. Oh and the meat is divine! Better than any other meat we raised!

Awesome video as always! I must say burbon red Turkey is one of my favorite breeds, unfortunately we weren't able to find any this year . We did find adult turkeys 2 Jenny's that are mix burbon red and a Jake that is broad breast bronze. We also got African goose eggs from a friend and hatched 2 . Thy are awesome geese loaded with personality and very talkative to us as well as, very alert and great guard. Thy are also very empathetic and caring to thyre flock .

The first time we had chickens, I was astonished at how fast they grew. I was sure that nothing could beat them for growth rate. Then we got ducklings and they outpaced the chickens and I thought surely that was the fastest anything grew... until we got our first gosling. NOTHING grows like a gosling. Its insane!

You know I love y'all, but I noticed in the past Mike and Selah could come across as overwrought, fifties kids TV show hosts of the "Hello, boys and girls!" style and now y'all are so much more relaxed, casual, comfortable with being on camera style that is so much more pleasing to watch. No, the show was not bad back then, however it was not as authentic as it is now. Now you make it feel like I am a friend that just dropped by the Yurt to see what the neighbor farmers are up to today. You are getting better and more endearing all the time. Lacie was always perfect BTW.

Mike, I'm glad you're trying more and more breeds. I've always been bothered by the Cornish Crosses. Sure they grow bigger birds in shorter time but they aren't happy. They suffer. They're missing the gene that lets animals know they're full so they just eat and eat and eat. They get so heavy it's not uncommon for them to have broken or dislocated legs. They grow so just they aren't even fully fledged in the short time until they're market size. It's just my feeling, but it seems inherently cruel. Every big poultry farm in America uses them and all the grocery store chickens are Cornish Crosses so I don't expect anything to change, but I'm glad there are people like you that think beyond size and time to harvest and think about animal welfare. Plus you're right, the heritage breeds do taste better. You're a good man and a good example.
