I'm now seeing that the ZWO OAG-L seems to be the closest equivalent on the ZWO side, and the designs are similar (although the ZWO one has a tilt plate on top of it!). So if you have a ZWO guide cam, you may want to look into it! Still, I believe the Touptek is excellent value and am super excited to see more competition in the space, because that means we as customers win!

Cant wait for their AsiAir alternative to be released. Once it is out, i am planning to get a Touptek IMX571 mono camera. I hope they will make a 7x2" filter wheel as well in the near future.

Thinking the same thing. I am trying to break the ZWO cycle I find myself falling into. Nothing wrong with ZWO equipment, but when they lag behind development (can you say rotator) I find myself stuck in a technology gap. ToupTek has some very competitive pricing and seems to have pretty good quality. Time will tell I guess on that.

Love the enthusiasm Cuiv! This ToupTek is on fire! Innovation pushes completion which makes it better for us in the long run. Thanks for all the content you've provided throughout the years! Next year should be very interesting to see if other companies move forward as well. All the best to you Cuiv 2024!

8:15 I know it is a Little Late, but on the Filter Drawer from ZWO there is a little Screw you can tighten it. inside is a little (i dont know how to descripe this thing in English) metall ball with a spring this will give the drawer a tighter fit. @Cuiv, The Lazy Geek

Nice review Cuiv. That's a really solid design and the way ALL OAG's should be designed. Time for ZWO to step up their game.

To be fair, I'm told the OAG-L has similar design!

Looks like a great product. I think I would put a piece of cardboard or something in the filter drawer while putting those tiny screws in. Very good chance I would drop a couple on the sensor.
@ra1nmaker0013 ай бұрын
great news! Can the OAG be used with a threaded filter drawer o extender that is not from ToupTek? It seems it only supports screws. Can you clarify? Thanks!
@CycloKermit3 ай бұрын
It can not. I received mine today and can confirm that only the connection with screws is supported, no adapter ring or anything available. I'm pretty bummed out about that tbh.
@sirbert76439 ай бұрын
Love all the video's I have learnt so much thanks a million. One newbie question about the ToupTek OAG. I get that you screw the OAG to the camera, via the filter draw and this makes the better linage. But that means that you can not move the OAG camera to pick up a glide star, with out rotating the framing of the object in the main camera. I want to use the OAG on a Celestron c8 with a 6.4 reducer and am a bit worried in will not find guide stars. Do you see this as an issue?

If you also get super super excited after watching this video and you own an Altair Hypercam (26C in this case) just to let you know that the screws are too small for the holes on Altair camera flange. I don't know if the flange can be changed and if that surgery voids the warranty but it is not works straight-out-of-the-box case Eventually found M42 to M54 adapters on AliExpress, hopefully that will make it work when delivered

I really think you should tell zwo OAG-L apart from the old zwo oag. The newer version of zwo oag has the same bolt-in connection just as the touptek one and has a larger prism. I believe it is touptek that is following zwo by naming their product also as oag-l.

Very excited about the ToupTek entry into the market. I certainly can agree that competition is great for the hobby. ToupTek now sells an OAG with a 14x10 prism as well as a 10x10 version which I believe is what you demonstrated. My biggest camera sensor currently is a ZWO 2600 so not sure if the new larger prism is meant more for a full frame sensor. I know you haven't probably had a chance to test the new OAG but was curious if you had any thoughts about the larger prism. Thanks for showing all of these new manufacturers. If I am not careful I am going to own some non-ZWO equipment. FREEDOM.

I like how it mounts but the camera lock down screw is too flimsy and allows the camera to move. Could use a second set screw.

Thanks for the heads up, I agree it's good to see some more competition at the budget end. Is that filter draw the same as the Altair Astro version? because it looks almost identical. If it is, it isn't that cheap here in the UK in fact its around the same price as the ZWO, or it was when I bought mine. But the magnets are definitely strong.
@CuivTheLazyGeek11 ай бұрын
Yes, it's effectively the same as the Altair Astro version!

Tip: when tightening screws, tighten one, then go to the opposite side and tighten that screw. (Sort of like 1 o’clock, 7 oclock, 3 oclock, 10 oclock, etc)

I am also thinking about to afford the OAG and the drawer. But I am unhappy about the range of drawers in general. I hpoe Touptek will come out with an electronic filter drawer with 2 or 3 positions. As a user of an OSC you need to go manually vhanging from NB Filter to RGB or spend a ton of bugs on a full blown up 5 or 7 position electronic filter wheel. I want a simple, electronic and cheap solution for OSC cameras.
