Fun stuff...and the hats were very becoming on you...lol ;D ....Those shelves that flattened into a table were really cool to see demonstrated. Pretty innovative for things like that way back in time...and for a practical purpose as well! ....To think there was a time when kids could carry knives to school and boy, how times have changed. Even though things like that are prohibited today, sadly we see so many mass shootings at schools, etc., one can't help wonder, where did society go wrong and be so troubled. My dear late Mom would always say that, it all starts from the cradle and how children were raised at home...and Mamma sure did know best...Dad too! Anyway, my Mom collected tons of AVON and got me a number of those vintage car bottles, that I still have. She also got my Dad some of the railway inspired pieces (train decanters, etc.), as my Dad worked for The Canadian National Railway for 36 years, here in British Columbia. Yes, I remember the scent, "Wild Country"...lol...I have a blue glass decanter of a race car that had a scent called "Spicy', that I loved better than the others...used every drop...ha ha..... My Dad had a really nice old gold pocket watch, that he always carried on a chain in a case/fob. I loved seeing it as a kid and he'd let me carefully wind it...and always said, "Be sure not to over-wind it Billy"....Thanks for another fun tour and I love learning about different things and the history that goes with it....and especially for the towns and areas you visit! Take care and keep on bringing us these interesting videos! : )
@TheAntiqueNomad4 жыл бұрын
Hi Billy! I can't say I really look good in any hat but I think it's fun to mug for the camera in them. That shelf/table was a great surprise to me too! Your mom was right about upbringing, I think disturbed people in the age of media realized they could get instant attention and that's the deadly combo. I love railroad items and CN is a great line! I recall the race car Avon too. I'm glad you're having fun with me and thanks for reaching out!

Andirons are under rated. I have a wonderful pair that came from Arden Delaware and are attributed to the Arden Forge. They work great to have next to your fireplace to be wood holders. SO many people have either a metal insert to their fireplace or have the curved metal pipes that hold the fire and push more heat into the room so andirons need a new purpose.

And George, you find the unusual and know what the object was used for. George you have great presence on film and have a well modulated voice.

Oh my! Your ending 😂😂😂😂😂 classic! WOW there was so much to love there. For a start their local accent is wonderful! Reminds me of the cartoons I watched in the 70s in NZ...good times😁😍. That bakers table/display shelves was absolutely fascinating! My jaw dropped when the lady flattened it out. The teapot or watering can at 14:00? had my heart! Marvelous piece. I had no idea until about 2 weeks ago that there was such a thing as Hamilton pocket/watches! I am on the lookout for one for both my brother and nephew. Could you explain to me, as simply as possible 😊, what the man meant about the second hand please?? Those pink topped pieces were sweet! Pink is my favourite colour for sure and to see it without a glossy glase was lovely. Very interesting that the company wasn't able to make that glaze after the disaster. Can't wait for the marbles! Marbles are another love of mine. I just picked up one from our local Glassworks for 25 dollars. Worth every cent! Thank you George for your fantastic videos!!! (And for making it through my rambling comment lol)
@TheAntiqueNomad4 жыл бұрын
Hello! He meant that the second hand swept around with the minute and hour hands, like it does on a wrist watch...earlier pocket watches had a separate second hand at the bottom that was tiny, or none at all. I'm a huge fan of pink as well! I look forward to showing you marbles tonight...I'm glad you liked the ending of the last video too lol

Really interesting items there! That child's/salesman sample chaise lounge would've had to have come home with me😏 I've never seen one of the baker's shelf/table combos before. That was super interesting, and could be really useful. Was that an old kerosene pump next to the Kohler pedestal sink? It didn't look like a water pump from that angle. I'd love to have the child's rifle, too. It looked in really good condition. Probably not too many of those still floating about in that condition. George, that ostrich feather chapeau was hilarious!!! Great video and tour!!! Thanks!!!
@TheAntiqueNomad4 жыл бұрын
The sad part was that the hat was an improvement over my hair that day! I SOOOO should've bought that chaise for $125, I really got how special it was seeing it in the video again. I think that was a kerosene pump, yes. I really was impressed by the condition of the kids' rifle but didn't want to spend $250 on it...probably worth it though
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS4 жыл бұрын
@@TheAntiqueNomad 🤣🤣🤣I can remember when the "wind-blown" look was in😉 Yeah, $125 for that chaise was a great deal. I imagine those were owned by the more wealthy people of the day, and probably not too many of them still around...children are notoriously rough on things😉 It would be fantastic as a doll display, or as a showpiece, in itself. I liked that child's rifle enough...I would've likely paid that for it, to simply hang it on a wall. Another thing that has always fascinated me are the old pulleys and trestles. I keep telling myself they don't😉😂😂, but they always have. I grew up on a farm, and some of the things like that really catch my eye...old plow points are another🤣🤣🤣 Really enjoyed the tour, and am looking forward to Wednesday's premier!!!

After you scrub away any food (or rust), you use vegetable oil or shortening and then cook it upside down in the oven on the middle rack at 375 degrees for an hour
