I was really excited to see that this our valerian plant lived up to its name and survived the winter! Valerian is a cold hardy plant that dies back in winter and emerges again in spring! We will plan to harvest this fall once the energy goes back down to the roots!
When is comes to moving bees… it is said that you can safely move a colony 3ft at a time. I’ll be honest, I think even that stresses them out so I said an inch at a time to keep them calm! I don’t quite have time for that lol! So we will wait until early winter.

I hybridize many passiflora..a tip on germinating older seeds or difficult to sprout varieties is to: Soak the seeds overnight in something slightly acidic like lemon juice or orange juice. Rinse then plant them.

Awww.. community, oh yeah… I live in the Ozarks of Arkansas and and getting up there in age..72.. and the youngsters that help recently took me aside and told me not to pay them as much as I had been doing… I was in tears, because I’d had to cut back on how many hours lately. It touched me . We have done things for them over the years, but never looked for anything, so this meant so much… my “ kids” helping me out now. Folks in this area are like this and it is so important to keep it going. Thanks for sharing you experience about it. ❤

I love how you say "don't be afraid to get your hands dirty and learn something old" it's so fitting in a time like this when many of Creators Children are returning to the old path aka Torah. It's so beautiful!

its much harder when not having a community of friends that homestead and hobby farm, and sometimes its tough too when you know there are people who are like you around but you dont know them because you are new to the community.

You can grow. Certain types of flowers to put in between your tomatoes, the cucumbers in Nebraska plants, and another type of your normal food plants to keep the bugs and pests away look into that. And you will have many more beautiful benefit FLOWERS 💐

I have to say I have 12 huge plastic Boxes that fit CD's perfect about 2 foot long, full of seeds. I put them all in those photo boxes. I have 7 photo boxes full of seeds. Crazy and I still have 4 of those CD boxes. So this year I have decided to make seed bombs with most of the flower seeds and I am going to throw them in and around my woods. They grow, they grow, if they don't, they don't. They are not doing any good in my seed storage. Thanks for sharing

Yup!! I agree… sometimes people overthink the garden and don’t end up planting… I just throw seeds out and see what happens sometimes:)

Make a fence toward road at least 2 meters high to avoid bees to end up on windshields... Regarding moving bees, you could temporary move them to your neighbors some 5 kilometers away, leave them for 3 days and then return them to the new bee-yard.

Question about stinging nettles tincture: I was trained to not tincture it if you want the minerals because they’re not extracted well in alcohol. How do you tincture your nettles? And if it’s not for the mineral properties what is the tincture good for?

As I'm cleaning up parts of a willow tree that came down with the recent snow and ice storms -- have you ever made 'aspirin' with willow bark? I see birch bark is used too. What is the process? Equivalent Dosage? Inner or Outer bark? Which is easier Birch or Willow? Which birch or willow is more effective? Different types of willow are better/worse?

Is there a Homesteaders Forum? Some place where I could see if there are any in my area that need help/employee. I am looking for work and would love to work a homestead. Would be beneficial to my learning and peace of mind. Don't like to be around too many people. I can't do retail anymore. I have lots of gardening experience and am currently growing medicinal herbs.

Valerian root wow my body doesn't like it same with rosemary. I think it smells awful too. Rosemary is not a herb that does well in my body. Actual rose petals and certain flower petals like sunflower 🌻 varieties do so much better in my body, personally. And I love pineapple weed. As a child foraged in our area only problem was in Winchester, VA they crop dusted everything. Of course we washed whatever I ate still sometimes playing outside I just didn't wash the wild plants as a child. Think it obviously caused problems. As for this the wells got contaminated. Groud water got contaminated. Just was this white haze of poison all over everything especially our apples 🍎 Kale is another one my body hates. Just truly hates. It's bitter stuff that my taste buds and stomach say "No." Nature does that for a reason. Miss sweet juicy berries ones around in stores are bitter tasting. Having a community garden has always been a dream of mine. Especially part of a private homestead too jointly. We all need our little bubble colony area yet, was a dream to be welcome anywhere if you travel especially locally. Community knows you love them peaceful ✌. Couldn't stop loving the Native Americans 800 years of peace caregivers to the land. It's always felt right ✅ here is a tool 🔧 it's not like you have to look at plants how they help heal is not a flashy event it's quiet progress over time and time again to make sure I have the correct information for your new Era to be able to call it fair trade ethically sourced items verified that's WHY I dislike being on camera 📷 Thank you for doing this work. I have this project I've been working on called Beebox transparency was seeing these monthly boxes people get subscription boxes and what your doing the apothecary aspect would be amazing to try the same blends you all do too for a month. Would you consider doing something like that? I'm able to see your homestead honestly to verify your methods which is the transparency of the supply chain completely was looking for. Just a thought based on everything it's been heartbreaking tricky. 💔 Sorry if the healing part is not a flashy event currently. Working on that small business scale aspect to lessen the emissions part. Yes, your in Virginia and I'm in Nebraska right now shipping 🚢 means some emissions just not huge amounts too bad this country doesn't embrace trains electric more. Zero emissions then. Slowly 🐌 trying to phase that out.
