What a great father's day present! For the man who has everything, but won't have one of those - truly unique!

Those aren't meant to cruise over 55mph anyway, at least with the ratios, above that speed it will heat up. You can make one a lot safer with the basic thing of looking after the underside... Which most owners don't do. Leaf springs commonly collapse in post 1982 Reliants or become very saggy therefore increasing body roll drastically. It's very fun as a driver but terrifying as a passenger. Around corners you just ease in and it does nothing, you can feel every single thing the car is doing in case of driving a Robin. After a few months of driving you trust it and begin cornering faster than most cars around you. Great video, love seeing Robins 🎉

Interesting! And absolutely, I think they got an unfortunate bad name, which was definitely linked more to poor maintenance! But it’s nice to put a positive video for the great little Robin marque!

Thanks for correctly calling it a Reliant Robin and not a Robin Reliant like most people do. Well done!

That drives me crazy! I think Top gear contributed to the misunderstanding

First, I had no idea that you are such a car guru (subscribed today). I have followed your extraordinary wife, Lia for years during a time when I wanted to reach through the screen to offer her help and support because it broke my heart to see what she was experiencing. It has been so beautiful to witness her journey and the love you have for each other. I cried watching this video because she is surrounded by love and genuine care. In a way, it was healing for me to watch her lovingly paint the car because she finally appears to have peace in her life and I appreciate you for not only supporting her, but allowing her to discover the extraordinary value and gifts she has in living authentically free. Best wishes for you both and Happy Father's Day to your dad. ❤️

Wow - the carb reminded me of my first car (a mini clubman estate) which had a separate float chamber. Part was failing (well, it was spewing petrol over the exhaust), so I got a complete replacement from the scrapyard. That was failing on the other side, so I frankensteined them together and, lo and behold, it worked. Much easier fix than more modern fuel injection systems. I miss carburettors.

i swear what a diffrence a electric ignition kit makes on these old girls makes them purrr and couple that with an electric fuel pump instead of that crappy unreliable mechanical pump. you wouldnt belive the diffrence it makes. Better fuel supply better bang equals a much more smoother run and reliability.
@chrislewis48307 ай бұрын
i got 95 out of mine it was as scary as hell though. Connected a hoover hose directly to the air filter from the matrix box when i wanted a little more id switch the fan on (i removed the filter and replaced it with a patch of nylon tights to keep the bits out) i was hoping the ribbed hover tube would add a vortex affect to allow more air into the carb. i also extended the rear axle by 6 inches using 3 inch wheelspacers to give it a better footprint (to make it a little less tippy). I also added a rear roof spoiler too force the front end down. I also polished and ported the head. At 95 she still had a little more go in her but i didnt i was begining to lose my vision due to the vibrations. very very very scary i even had a passanger. But it was also fun. like a Alton towers ride except theres a chance you might die. Always be wary of people who go hmmm i wonder. lmao

Many years ago, I was a passenger in my dad's car, and we were following my dad's mate, who was driving a Reliant Robin. He got to 90 Mph on a downhill stretch of the M62, and when the motorway bended, he was on two wheels. I was scared for him. I'd rather drive an Asda shopping cart.
