your mom: Jess is Australian and Gabe is obviously American. They got married, Jess moved to America for their marriage and work. But because Jess has been in America for so long she isn’t aloud to leave the country unless she was approved as a resident. So if she went back to Australia (her home) she wouldn’t be aloud back into America. So she waited over two years to just be approved by the government so she can now go back to Australia whenever she likes but still live in America with Gabe. Does that make sense?

SUMMER CARLSON Since Jess is from Australia and got married and stayed in the US, she was not able to fly back. She wasn’t a United States resident so if she left the country she was at very high risk of not being able to return. The process to get your green card (which allows you to fly in and out of the US with no risk) usually takes about half a year to a year, but it took Jess two and a half years because of mistakes that were done with her previous attorney I believe, so she got a new one and they were able to fix everything up, but it took way longer for that reason. She got the call for the interview (the last step before getting her green card) last month and this month on the 10th she went to the interview and they approved her residency that same day (there was a chance they would have to wait 120 days) the videos basically go on from there, this comment is already way too long jaja!
