I recommend listening to the studio version of songs first to understand how it sounds properly. Live versions will lose a lot in the translation, and that's assuming the music video is good quality to start with. In most live versions of songs, the singer occasionally sings out of sync with the timing of the instruments etc. Lotta little things like that add up. But if you know what a song is supposed to sound like, your brain will fill in the details and make it easier to fully enjoy.

The bass is horses' hooves charging. The guitar riff is a bugle sounding the charge. The drums are guns and cannon firing. The vocals are a battle cry. Fantastic work to paint a musical picture of a historic event. That extra level makes this one of my favourite Maiden songs.
@andyb16534 жыл бұрын
One of my favourite things about Maiden is that many of their songs are actually history lessons. This one's about the "Charge of the Light Brigade", in which a force of lightly-armed cavalry charged directly into point-blank artillery fire. They achieved their objective, but died almost to a man. Crazy stuff, and VERY metal.

I saw Iron Maiden at Ozzfest in 2005 when I wasn't much of a fan of them. And their performance was absolutely amazing. Even at the age they were, they nailed it. It didn't necessarily make me a fan of theirs as I struggled to get into that style of singing in metal. But I always always respected them. Took until actually a year or 2 ago for me to fully dive into them and become a fan. If I had to name a song to check out, it would be "Caught Somewhere In Time."

To say that Iron Maiden influenced a lot of the music that came after them is sort of an understatement, because it doesn't capture exactly how huge Iron Maiden is and was worldwide at every point in their still-going career. It's more apt to say that metal music is what it is today because of Iron Maiden, full stop. They arrived alongside other British heavy metal bands in the late 70s, and if rock and metal music as a whole rests on supporting pillars, Iron Maiden is one of those. I first saw Iron Maiden live at Ozzfest in 2006, they shared the headlining spot with Black Sabbath and it was honestly fucking amazing. I saw them two more times after that, once on the tour for their next album and one on the following tour and had a phenomenal time at all of them. When I got into playing guitar at 13, they were the songs we learned to play and jam out in our basement, and even though I couldn't sing I still belted out those notes at the top of my lungs because it's so much fun.

The whole concert was awesome but what stood out to me the most that even though these guys play the same songs night after night, I could tell they still dig doing the songs. I watched the lead guitarist put his heart and soul into the songs and getting into every song. Life time maiden fan since ‘82. One of the things that is unique to maiden is that they only have 2 songs that have a fade out (women in uniform, a cover, being one of them. Can’t remember the other off the top of my head). All songs have an ending.

Maiden is famous for the harmonized dual lead guitars . Love your reaction
