USE THOSE CHAPTERS TODAY👍 To understand the headphones, I figured a quick history was in order. But use those chapters to skip ahead if you want to jump straight to the headphones🎧

Pleased to meet you David! I used AKG 240’s for years until they died then bought the Sony MDR 7506. Couldn’t stand them. Though I thought they had great bass, the midrange was thin, washed out and grey sounding, and the highs were shrill to the point of pain! Not suitable for editing choral and orchestral recordings. So I bought the Rode NTH-100 as soon as they were released. After a couple weeks with them, I find they are an easy-going headphone, nicely balanced in their sound signature. Maybe a wee bit warm in the lower mids and upper bass but that’s OK. Not an exciting sound - no smiley face curve here - but what comes down the wire comes out the drivers. Did I mention they were oh so comfy? Thanks for your review and looking forward to more!

Hi there. I have my guitar plugged into an amp and now I need a headset to plug in so that I can practice silently. What headset do you recommend? Thank you. I love a long cable when playing guitar.

So stoked you like her stuff Kelley! If she ever gets down to Alabama for some shows, I'll let you know! The Bose are amazing as headphones and still my go to for listening to music/podcasts, but they've just been super hit or miss when editing with them. What's your experience been with them when paired to your computer?

@@DavidManningvlog that would be awesome. Hopefully they come this was close one day. I agree they are hit or miss I got them thinking I would love Bluetooth but that’s useless most of the time. I have had them several years and got them we we first started the channel. I need to upgrade just haven’t taken the leap.

@@DavidManningvlog also my insta 360 one2x comes today. I’m so excited. I sold one of my older GoPros to help fund my purchase. We had 3 GoPros and hardly ever use my 7 anymore. So I figured the 360 would be a great addition since we do a lot of action things.

you can easily get way better padding on the earcups for almost all the popular cans. I've got 1.5in thick aftermarket ones on my old ATH-M30 while my 50X are still stock. I've worn the sonys for 4+ hours and its fine, I wish they had thicker padding but if I owned them I would have swapped them Without proper frequency response testing its hard to say 1 is flatter than another

Hey, David. Ok, I may have just been doing this wrong the whole time and just found out… but… i’ve always edited music and video with my Rokit Studio Monitors. I’ve always shied away from editing with headphones. Have I been missing a step in my editing process??

Great review, and thank you for sharing your wife's music with us. Semi-serious/goofy question, but did you have to pay a royalty fee to use her music? KZbin didn't ping you for using licensed music, did they? I only partially kid there.

Thanks for the video. You almost read my mind! I wanted to know how the NTH-100 was compared to the HD-280 Pro and the MDR-7506. In India, the cost of the headphones is like this: NTH-100 = Rs. 15,500 HD-280 Pro = Rs. 7,000 MDR-7506 = Rs. 7,349 Which means, for the price of 1 NTH-100, you can buy both i.e. HD-280 Pro and MDR-7506. 100 USD = Rs. 7,500 approximately.

Research Bayer DT770 Pro (older, like 1985 old) & AKG K371 (late 2019, Harman target tuning). Those are at the ballpark pricing of NTH100 too and they are very well reviewed.

I have watched all NTH100 videos but I have not heard this pair. From the information I have gathered (most reviews are rubbish because Rode keeps sending them to podcasters and creators and not proper headphones reviewers) - This pair seems to be one of the best for vocal monitoring. Its problem with your use case is that it doesn't come with a mic. Then again, in terms of voice quality, any USB mic will smoke even the best headset microphone.
@gigihanmandarin
@gigihanmandarin 2 жыл бұрын
Take a look at Blue Yeti or Boya PM700 if you wanna look fancy with professional-ish microphone at around $100 to go along with NTH100. If you want a headset (headphones with mic) take a look at HyperX Cloud II ($40) Cooler Master MH751 ($50), Sennheiser/Drop PC37X ($99) or PC38X ($180) Most other headsets are laughed at within the audio community (Razer, Skull crusher etc). Rule of thumb is, if a company produces gaming accessories, they generally produce rubbish headphones/headsets.

As much as I like your camera/photography/videography content, I don't think you have enough knowledge to speak about headphones. But F me, it's KZbin right, anyone can upload content explaining subjects they don't know. Point 1: 7506 is a treble murderer (just look at the FR graph), they are NOT neutral. Elevated treble = let you hear the faults when you are monitoring audio on site, that's why the sound guys love them. Point 2: Bose QC35 should not be in the picture. It is like you are comparing a Corvette to a F150 simply because both of them have 4 wheels. Thank God you didn't put that in the title. Point 3: Loudness difference is due to the differences in resistance and sensitivity of the headphones and not related to their "quality". They should be volume matched in order to compare the differences in sound quality. Point 4: The only function of a pair of headphones to do is to make sound. Well, about 5% of your time in the video is speaking about how they sound and even that's split between 4 pairs of headphones. Point 5: There is a rubber plug to be inserted into the unused jack (placed along with the coloured clips in the ziploc bag) or else it will affect the bass response and channel imbalance. Yours' missing.

Hahaha! Oh man Tysun, if I've ever given the impression that I know what I'm talking about, I'm so sorry! I'm just a guy trying stuff out and telling other people what I think🤷‍♂️ And rarely from a technical perspective. Just from a heavy user of the things. You sound like you know what you're talking about with these headphones though, so what do you think of the NTH-100's from a technical perspective?
