@4:38 Gareth seems pleased to get a WCCC wicket. Boy was he given a hard time when he came back to Worcester. He sat with a bloke in the crowd after being booed and explained what its like to be a pro sportsman. I like Gareth. I spoke to him a few times in my Friday night local. Once he was chatting to Stephen Peters about Graham Gooch's opinion of Peters leaving Essex. It was a spicy conversation. That said Surrey - with the largest catchment of people of any county, did go through a phase where they kept nicking players from smaller clubs rather than using their own enormous resource to bring their own youth through. They nicked Solanki, Batty and Davies in one year from Worcestershire. Gutting the team. Why a county with an 11 million person catchment area and the most resources of any club should need to do that I can only put down to poor management. All's fair in love and sport. But if you keep poaching players from smaller clubs - stuff is going to get said. WCC had at least one laugh though. The year they left Surrey were relegated and WCCC were promoted. So they left a Div 1 club to play for a Div 2 club.
