This game has come so far. I’ve been a part of the game since its testing phase, been following it for years now. It’s such a beautiful game. FYI Multiplayer is coming in the future. When the game launched there was no intention of adding it. But with success comes change ❤

Very nice overview, I'm sold. Too many of these types of games are tedious or have an annoying PvP element that I don't always want to deal with. This looks like a fun single player option.

The running zombies is a real immersion-breaker for true zombie fans like me. True zombies are dangerous in numbers, but move around in slumbering fashion, with no ability to run, lunge, jump, hit, etc.

TRUE zombies? So you have some real life experience with them?? :-) The occasional "runner" is a nice variation imo. And you can fine tune the AI in the settings! You can set the overall zombie speed to your liking and you can individually tweak the spawn chance of EVERY zombie type...just set them to zero. The game has one of the best difficulty settings on the market. You could make them super slow, but increase the spawn rate of the archetypes you like - then you have large hordes of slow "true" zombies.

I hate to tell you but the concept of "zombie" existed before Romero was even born.... Africa, Hati and Jamaica had zombies in there folklore for thousands of years ranging from mind controlled people via vodoo and undead monsters who ate people, THEIR zombies are the true zombies All he did was copy their folk lore while simultaneously trying to erase it by claiming he created it. But I'm not surprised someone who thinks being a snob over fictional creatures is somehow cool would know that

If you have never played State OF Decay 2, I would highly recommend checking it out. Another classic would be Days Gone. STALKER 2 hits a little different, but shares some of the vibes. If you like Scavenging games Day-Z - there are PvE Servers available. Deadside has no zombies, but also shares a lot of scavenging, base building, etc. vibes.

Great video! I've played FPS games for 30 years, but this is my first survival game I've ever played (unless you count Stalker as survival) and I'm enjoying it. My first playthrough I did pretty well, I had trouble with food scarcity. But now I'm starting to understand the mechanics and I think on my next play I will be more prepared.

If you want some survival games to try i would recommended empryion galactic survival, space engineers( its very very moddable, it does have a bunch of dlc's but if you are in a multiplayer you cant place dlc items but you can still use them so dont feel pressure to buy dlc), no mans sky (update 5.0 just came out and its a game changer), satisfactory (just building a massive factory and screwing around trying to get it to work better and unlocking new things forcing me to figure out how to redo my entire thing will never get old)

Multiplayer would be great and all (for some), but to me the main draw is the single player focus. There are plenty of better options for multiplayer games in this genre.

DayZ meets Roblox nice. If there was a up to four player co-op that would be awesome. Could play this with my kids. They occasionally catch me playing DayZ and want to try this would be a better experience for them. Keeping it PVE and teamwork oriented.

It´s referred to as "low-poly" games, which is a certain kind of assets. It´s like a basic toolkit the devs then can expand on.

If you like more DayZ like survival games with guns like me, you might wanna check out No One Survived or Vein! It sure looks quite janky but it feels just like this game but with co-op features.

Just today I have tried Vein...it is early alpha and nowhere near a decent gaming experience....but it shows a lot of promise. I would say it needs at least a year before being considered even EA. No One Survived has a very mixed reception atm, which keeps me from giving at a shot. Thank you very much for your suggestions! I did try Once Human and have a love/hate relationship with that one, maybe I will cover it on the channel.

Currently no quests (they are next on the list after the upcoming update). Raiding PoI´s and getting key cards for the high value loot areas is the current endgame. Infestation are about to be reworked and will add more dynamic (patch is expected "soon"), after that a quest system is the next big milestone.

It does have the option to switch into first person view! I just personally never use it. You can also adjust FOV for 3rd and first person and you can adjust the camera position and zoom of the 3rd person view.

The game has FPV, but it was created with 3rd person being the focus, so there are still some issues. It's getting better and is much better than it was when first added.

It maybe lies in the nature of a low poly game, but the locations are all carefully handcrafted, especially the big raid location like the resort for example. I also like that the loot is always context related and not just random.

The amount of jank in this game is staggering. I had major bugs within 15 minutes, falling through the ground. Npc stabbing me through the floor. This game needs a lot of polish

Agreed that there is a definite "early access" feeling to it, but I did not had any crashes and only once or twice the falling through terrain after loading into an autosave (never with quick saves). And some kind of simplicity is inherently baked into this game, but imo this simplicity is a lot more times beneficial and helps being a good gaming experience vs. the try hard simulation games like SCUM. But yeah, I can see why some people might not feel the same appeal and there is still some work in progress. The big 1.6 oatch is coming this weekend, I´m excited to see what it brings.

Interesting comment and review for the game, you didn’t really specify what makes it boring or janky, after all, early access means the game is not complete and is actively adding updates that add and optimize features. Once Human for sure has a somewhat compelling loop, I did sunk some serious hours into it. But it also feels incredible inconsistent with the world building and often cheap (resource notes sticking out, empty textures, etc.) and also incredible bloated with systems, currencies and shops...typical mmo stuff. Some like it, some not. Surroundead is a way more leaner package in a good way, a lot more focus on moment to moment gameplay. Some will like the more "refined" approach of Surroundead, some the more blown up mmo-style of Once Human. Always good to have choice - and Surroundead is just 5 Bucks atm...basically free ;-)
