- You can switch of tracers in the options. - Metal can be harvested from the smoking car wrecks; tons of it - using a compensator on weapons increases their damage and in my experience it is worth the trade off, plus they sound better but that is prolly subjective - do not leave rags, disinfectant and polymers behind - there is a large key-ready base location in the center of the map with wire fences around it and a container gate and massive factory halls - the dev is super responsive and helpful on their Discord, contacted him several times there and always got a reply

Thank you, I completely lost interest in the game when I saw the base building. Having something setup already helps. I much prefer when you have a homebase thats mostly planned out and you just drop off the resources.

While I can never go back to the incredible jank that was Neverwinter Nights, one of my favorite things about those games was stacking hundreds of containers. Sometimes you really do just want to carry your library with you, but also your painting collection, your backup armory, your pretty rocks, some cool bugs, an old vase, a new vase, the rest of yesterday's bread, some gifts for your homies, a bunch of bones, some handy knickknacks, an instrument you'll never learn to play...

In Divinity Original Sin 2 you can load up a chest and move it around like the ultimate weapon, crushing your enemy with everything you've stored... I think you might like it.

NWN was my first RPG. Absolutely amazing top 5 game for me. My first character was a ranger with high INT and low WIS because I had no idea what I was doing. Still beat it through sheer determination.

1:52 I think Splat hit the nail on the head for me. I'm not the biggest Survival PvPvE fan to begin with. The substance for most games in this genre comes from the players in the server which is always a coin flip on quality. Convert the game to single player and there would be a shallow amount of content. If a game in this genre had more substance before adding PvPvE, I would definitely change my tune. Glad a game like Surroundead is subverting the indie zombie/monster survival by not needing PvP.

Wierdly one of the better games to do this (Imo at least) was ARK: Survival Evolved. When you get down to it it just becomes deranged pokemon, and the world is so deadly that you need to be on your toes the whole time, even just with the PvE content. Zomboid is up there too but it's a bit of a stretch to compare it to a game like this.

I actually started playing this again the day before the latest large patch. Night and Day the difference. Nights darker, zombies more hostile, truck now can't decide if it's blue or orange lots of good stuff.

This has been on my radar for a few years but think I’m burnt out on sandbox zombie. Made it 5 minutes into 7D2D 1.0 release and just went “this is a time sink that leads to completely nowhere”

Yeah, felt the same about 7days, put in another 25 hrs or so hoping it gets better but meh... Project Zomboid or State of Decay 2 are the ones that I can still enjoy, mainly cuz I suck hard at Zomboid to the point it is just really entertaining, and State of Decay is just an overall solid game from start to finish.

Exactly! After you seen it. All the other zombies game are so similar. It's just mundane task all over with more varieties of items but the challenge from the enemies and the game world are not having lots of varieties.

This is almost exactly what I was looking for, a genuine survival solo (or maybe co-op) game, but I do want to deal with players... NPC players that is. Maybe a system where you can ally/team up with procedurally generated AI/NPC, trade/barter system, gang/group territory and can war/defend with etc etc. Something to give a little rimworld/walking dead style vibe in a way that doesn't take away from gameplay and exploration but equally adds more content beyond recycled fight/kill zombies, loot, repeat

@@funkatr0n912 I have heard of State of Decay 2, though I had State of Decay 1 and was underwhelmed with the idea of it and always threw the idea of SoD2 out the window assuming it would just be exactly like the first. Though your reply just made me want to go check more into it, so I am hoping it is at least basically fleshed out (even if not to any extreme means) and just allows gameplay beyond a small playloop

Have you tried Zomboid? It runs well on most pcs idk how bad yours is ofc but might be worth checking, you can always refund if it does poorly. To me its still the best zombie game I ever played, mods are amazing and its getting a huge update at the end of this year.

@@donterrenoalto4235 Yeah although it looks low poly you can downgrade some settings to make it worthwhile. I got it for like $6 during the steam sale and was well worth it. Found a bunker that I gen-ed up and decorated to a degree even! Been playing more Cyberpunk lately though (low settings there too) but with full intention on continuing this one. Just worried that my bunker might be the home of a boss zombie now or something! They do give you a base flag, so hoping that prevents spawns there.

really like this game. its become one of my favorites. big fan of this solo dev putting in the work. he clearly loves what hes creating, not just in it for the money. theres so much content already in this game, yet theres room for so much more. looking forward to the future of it. the rare quality Quads are indeed the best NVG in the game atm.

I love how much this game has evolved and improved itself over the years, I took a break from it about half a year ago and already seeing new content in the video and the comments section. Will have to jump back on this again soon. Thanks for the update video

With regard to the building, there is snapping in the game but it is all related to the modular building system that includes foundations, walls, half-walls, floors, roofing, etc. The cool thing about that though is that ever item that can be placed starts at "0" degrees of rotation. Meaning that if you put your foundations and such down at 0, your items will naturally align to it. Also, the rotation is tied to a full 360 degree indicator, meaning that if you want something rotated 90 degrees from your foundation, that is easy to do. The non-modular stuff (which is most of the stuff in the game) still won't snap to the modular stuff (and often can clip through it), but at least you can line it up fairly easily.

The creator had also improved melee by changing the animation swing speed then they just straight up replaced the old animations so that's probably why it feels better

I have tnx to splats last video over 200h in this game. Dev is very active it feels and looks great. What made this game so great for me is that the options you have to start with are so many so ever time you play feels different

This is a good game. The base building is fun and I am excited for them to expound on it. Once i figured out that you can save and reload to reset loot in static containers, I abused it too much and the gameplay loop grew old fast. Got all of the materials, gear, ammo and weapons you could ever want in like 30 minutes of doing this by a hidden military stash I found.

This game needs a fleshed-out weight system. If you can tolerate backpack stacking, you have infinite space. My current run has me carrying 8 concrete walls, some fence, weeks of food and water, and about 25 guns and 2000 rounds of ammo.

I actually think this is closer to State of Decay without the switching between community members. Appreciate your coverage of indie games as always! This is a title I recommend to just about any zombie fan. Edit: I can recommend also building a base, the dev added a whole system for building, really helps with hoarding.

This game looks pretty good. It might due to consider roaming zombie packs or warring factions that fight each other for territory that could hire you to help them or something. Depends on what the dev is capable of, but it'd make the world feel more alive. Don't want a war near your base, or a giant zombie pack.

There's snapping already, but it's pretty much solely relegated to buildings. Your crafting table has another tab that has foundations and walls and such and those are the bits that snap together

This title is loads of fun, it really has that whole scavenge and loot fun-loop dialled in nicely :) I totally agree with the emersion break in the loot system though, I once found an industrial generator and a bunch of furniture in a office dustbin (wastepaper basket)

Why not consider this as a temporary "thank you for playing!" feature? I think it's actually funny, too 🙂 I once had this idea for a game. Urban crap and chaos and driving like in GTA5, but the main character is a fanatic collector of miniatures, in possession of a hand held device which can shrink anything to a designated scale. The same device can rescale objects to their real size. He wants to build a "haven on mars" with the tower of pisa, notre-dame, the taj mahal, big ben, etc etc AND the space shuttle and the menara warisan merdeka (straight out of google's search for "tallest building"). Ambitious * blackhole (mass)*∞ project, right?. However, it is not possible to create such thing in videogame, yet, so those "thophies" could only be found in a GTA5 sized city, in random trash cans. That is the reason why such game doesn't exist 😏 And then this dude just did something similar. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

There is a custom base building thing similar to unturned base building btw, right now only wood building but there are plans to expand on it, do recommend getting all the benches, very useful

19:56 Seems stun locking zombies is a lot more consistent. Used to be that some zombies were just randomly immune to stuns from melee weapons while others got stunned every hit. Now it seems only bosses are stun immune, though I could be wrong about that.

Forewarning, the game is still full of bugs which are being worked on. Overall the game has good potential, but be aware of the fact that it is still Early Access. I advise to be patient and get it on discount. (Cuz of the said bug galore within the game, which mind you ARE being worked on)

It's purchased packs done by a company called Synty. If you want a bunch of assets that match each other and don't cost thousands, you really don't have a lot of options. Assets are incredibly expensive either in money or time to get a game's worth of them.
