“If you truly believe that you’re an unstoppable force of nature in life, then you will be.”
It’s so important that stories like Chuck Ritter’s are shared. These are the guys fighting, bleeding, displaying incredible acts of selflessness under fire - and they do it without ever knowing that their stories will extend beyond those who were there and maybe a couple of others down the road. As much as they serve their country, they serve those who fight alongside them.
Another Special Forces survival story we covered: • How a Special Forces O...

@@mookiestewart3776 Adrenaline is indeed crazy. I suffered a gunshot injury through my forearm and felt zero pain. Zero. None. It wasn't until maybe 15-20 minutes later it started hurting a bit (but not that much). However at that point I got morphine. The pain I did feel, 15-20 minutes in, was mostly "pressure pain" as I got a few big bumps/blobs in my arm. Maybe a medical professional can chime in I don't know. But I speculate that the bumps and the pressure pain, was due to severed arteries preventing blood flow and gathering up in spots around the wound. The bullet fragmented inside my arm, so there was a lot of shattered bone fragments and bullet pieces.

Tagab was no joke. Was over there back in 2012 with Chosen Co 2-12. We took the FOB over from the French, once we got there they left that same week leaving us to figure out things on our own. We did one mission with them where they timed the patrol to 15 minutes. If they where out there for more then 15 minutes they would receive contact. So my company commander at the time told them they can leave but we're there to fight. Dude is straight up CPT America. Not only he was in the Documentary Restrepo, but lead us to have one of the best leaderships I had while I served. Never thanked you enough CPT Gillespie.

The fact that Afghanistan fell to the Taliban shows that war without purpose is pointless. Vietnam did not fell to US military might but to the export of American culture. SGM nails it when he talks about what you do with the fear when you’re in combat. Those who are mentally ready react in force and fight through it. We carry the fear with us and use it as a weapon in and of itself. It’s the most unexplainable feeling to be afraid but not back down. I carry the shell that houses that feeling in me, everyday of my life. I thank God everyday that I don’t have to fill it with that feeling anymore, but make no mistake, I’ll never forget how to fill it up and use it to overtake the enemy if I have to. It’s the only feeling in the world that allows you to experience life from another viewpoint other than your own eyes. I medically retired in 2018 with 18 years. Everyday, I get to work and sit behind my desk and stare at the walls before I crack my computer open and soak in the calmness that I’m shrouded in. It’s the greatest feeling ever. No one is shooting at me, no one wants to hurt me and I feel like I’ve earned the right to a cush job where I utilize my intellect to visualize data for some asshole who has no idea what a real bad day feels like. I don’t gloat, I don’t mope around when I’m having bad days because there’s no such thing as a bad day like a day with a firefight.

Same with my father who was a detective first grade in 9/11 and received an award for going in and out of both towers a combined 8 times saving many lives before his own health was compromised as well as my best friends Dad who was an Ranger and did several tours all over Iraq, Afghanistan and a few parts of Africa. Men like them are the reason I been working to get in peak condition and hopefully one day go through RASP and have the honor to serve in the 75th.
