Even though I appreciate them showing footage of how she entered the school, the families in mourning having to watch her hold that rifle up and see her canvas the area has to be traumatizing to witness. Knowing there were victims that she actually succeeded in finding is difficult to watch. Prayers for our Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, family members, loved ones, and friends who received those calls to be notified. And amazing due diligence to the officers who quickly de-escalated the situation swiftly. Six people are gone in those few minutes..just imagine how many more had they not responded as they did. That was impeccable training and skill.

There were likely signs and symptoms of a mentally unstable threat to society for at least two full decades. We have failed the victims by not protecting them, and we have failed them again, as well as the monsters committing these atrocities, by not catching these signs right away and seeking help for the adorable, little murderers running around our very own homes. We Americans need to take a lesson from Israel. In Israeli schools, all schools have armed security guards. They also have armed principals and armed teachers. In Israel there was a terrorist attack in the late 70’s that killed over 20 kids and teachers. After that Israel armed all schools. It’s the only way to end schools shootings. Israeli schools are now armed and protected from attack. Armed personnel inside the school is the best way to protect our kids.

Mental health screenings and a thorough background check should be a must. My grandmother’s step brother with Down Syndrome was able to purchase a gun.. He can’t even use the bathroom without getting it everywhere, but let’s give him a gun? Criminals will find ways to get guns, I understand that, but new laws can make it more difficult for them. People like to say it shouldn’t be made more difficult for them, it’s not fair, but a lot of the children shooting up schools have parents that never thought that would happen in the first place. You never know! It should be equally hard for everyone! Getting a gun shouldn’t be a super easy process.. Schools don’t need huge glass doors! Every gun owner should be made to get a safe for all guns and sign a form that promises no one outside the home or under the age of 18 will be given the code. Then if a child manages to shoot up a school or kills someone, the parents should be held responsible as well! There should be no way a six year old is able to get a gun and take it to school.. Locked doors and procedures could of stopped this. The school I went too growing up you couldn’t open the doors at all outside they could only be opened from the inside. The only entry points where too the main office and we had security and a police officer in the front entrance at all times. Students were constantly told to not let any stranger in under any circumstance. This is not a gun issue, this is a sick person and failed procedure issue. Schools all across the US need to start stepping up and taking security absolutely seriously.

There needs to be armed security at every school. That can see the threat ahead of time and neutralize it before it happens. Sometimes the most valuable lesson’s are the ones learned the hard way. Why do kids and innocent people have to die because we’re to soft to defend out next generations? We're the only first world country where this regularly happens for an obvious reason: the second amendment, especially when interpreted liberally by the Roberts court. This hyper-activist court will continue baring the states from passing any laws preventing the spread of guns now that the amendment has been misconstrued by Republican justices.
