I’m 26 but I can vividly remember my middle school through highshool years attending Atlanta Public Schools. I remember how all the cool kids were just a bunch of lost souls with no guidance that thought it was cool to gangbang & bully other kids. My parents recently just came from Nigeria so we didn’t have much but now that I’m older I really appreciate the fact that they did not let me leave the house & have any friends. I maintained a clean record & was able to get a good paying job & meet genuine people later in life. Parents please watch who your children hang around because sadly these kids are just a byproduct of the neglect & lack of proper structure & role models in their life.

It's not always the parent's fault. There are a lot of parents that do right by their child(ren) in every aspect of being a parent: they work, respectable, show, teach, give love, addiction free, no verbal/physical abuse, involved in their education. With all of that, some of these young people don't recognize this as a form of love and mistake it for weakness. For some reason they lean toward and are influenced by the opposite of how they are raised, knowing good and well it's dangerous. It's so sad to see the way some these young people choose to purposely live their lives in ways that they know isn't right or good for them. It's sad to know that the 12 year old was so easily influenced, by the world, the that he had to sneak out of his home, already knowing it was wrong, to lead to his untimely death. I keep noticing in Atlanta news when teens come up missing or dead, the parents are always saying the teen snuck out or the teen left the house at 2:00 in the morning. I've seen this repeatedly. Absolutely no accountability. How your child got out, had the balls to sneak out, or walk out the house in your face and come back when they felt like it? Stop using single parenting as an excuse for why you don't pay attention to your kids beyond a surface level.

The actions seen in the video is the culture that excites these 10-15 year old fatherless young men. They want to be in gangs and they will do anything to assimilate. Their mothers will lie and do anything to protect them because the men chosen to be their multiple baby daddies were engaged in similar activities which is why they don’t see anything wrong with these young boys hanging and hustling. The actions we see across America by our youth is derived from generations of teen pregnancies, no commitment to education, drug addiction, broken families, poverty, total embracement of the Hood culture that welcomes baby mommies and daddies, and gangster rap is the straw that stirs the drink.

Love them to this day most are gone now, but if i had someone at home saying NO. I would not have had that childhood of violence and seeing things no kids should see. Now im a father of 4 and i am raising all them in my home and say No. Told them why and showed them my scars of life. Explained how i wont let them live that way and being a boring kid, nerd, involved in music is good for their future. Parents need to say No more.. it is a battle but stand that ground and discipline.

I'm confused. We have an entire industry dedicated to music saying this behavior is not only good but down right admirable. Why is it shocking that these youth who mostly likely embody the culture of contemporary hip-hop are as heartless as the music they listen to?

You have to be more proactive as a parent these days. Meet the other parents of who your kid(s) are hanging with, possibly seeing how there home is, checking out the neighborhood, having your child video message you at random times, sending there location here and there etc. I don't care how invasive it may be/feel. Have conversations with them regularly and pay attention to the decisions they make. Give more freedom based upon their behaviors. Yet somehow balance this all within reason because on the other hand, some grow up and try to make up for being restricted later in life. So balance is key as well.

And that’s the problem that the majority of black parents are not raising their kids at all and that’s why they are the main ones terrorizing society on a daily basis.

If some try to "make up for fun lost", their parents were more than correct in restricting their activities. They would have gone down the rabbit hole much sooner at an earlier age, because the seed had already grown and flourished while young.

After reading a lot of these comments, I'm giving praise to the young people who aren't going in this direction - who strive to be educated, hang out with others with the same morals, mindsets and future goals - those who choose to be leaders, instead followers even with or without strong family support. It has to be traumatizing for them as well to lose acquaintances to this kind of violence. Those of us who pray, should not only pray for the families and friends of those who were lost that night, but for the awakening of those who have the mindset to celebrate taking the life and future away from a child... God bless, comfort and keep you all in his care!
