Instead of asking her husband to protect her, which he obviously couldn't do against a gang of armed men, she hid him under a pile of clothes because she knew he'd be killed immediately. She put his safety first despite knowing what was going to happen to her; putting someone else's safety instinctively above your own - truly unconditional love if I've ever seen it.

And yet he hid while his was violated and possibly pregnant by her rapist (s)..I understand being scared but to just hide and do nothing? Shit as a woman I could NEVER trust nor love this "man" again..she showed more courage then he did.

@@donovangonzales1842 Without having a type an editorial. I'll try to paraphrase and keep it as brief as I can: Not many those in power tend to be organized and there are those who also tend wanted to keep the status quo. There was tension of those who liked and hated the president and whether he should've finished his term. He wanted to change the country for many for the better for what I hear. There are those who wanted to keep things the same and stay dependent on the current structure. Unfortunately, many don't think ahead a lot of the time. Hence why they didn't really have a response or organization for when he died, along with other complicating factors. I have a lot of family in the capital, but I have family outside the capital and the in the US. A lot of the incidents shown are at the capital, also where the biggest airport is, making it very dangerous to go unless you'd like to try the other one. Now it's controversial to help because many Haitians rather have us figure it out for themselves and also opens them up to outside influences and to external control from other countries. Some Haitians don't take care of themselves or try to improve which is why the DR isn't a fan of Haitians. It's like that roommate you're stuck with but trashed and ruins half the apartment.

This goes back to their heroic, hard-won Indepence from France when that and other governments and powers (including US sugar cane companies) imposed unyielding charges and taxes on Haiti as part of the peace treaty and recognition of its independence. France for example, is still getting payments from this...think about that for a moment. Haiti's never been allowed to even be remotely average just from that alone. And this is the result. Note: Beware the Magaga misinformation and its avoidance of history, they're evil, honestly...and very sensitive to this fact as you shall see in this threat. They'll completely miss the irony as well.

We also bought him sandals, new shorts and a shirt, and took him to dinner at the fancy restaurant in the Hotel where we were staying. The Haitian servers weren't going to allow him in, but then relented when we told them that if he wasn't allowed in, we'd take him to a restaurant that would allow him in. Its crazy how unaware you people are. Haitians won't be able to solve this. This problem is international. Haitian government can lock these people up in just a week if they want, but if they do that, Americans would arrive. And no one wants that. El salvadore is another country infested with gang violence. One day, bukeley can't see this anymore and locked these people up. Just around 500 or so people. You have no idea what Americans and west did to him. So, other countries are afraid to even touch these gangs. Their military is more than capable of taking these insignificant gangs out. But the problem is, gangs are under American protection. Even weapons are supplied to keep them afloat. Many asian/african/middle eastern leaders also tried to take these gangs out. You know what happened to them. This is a form of neo colonialism and its done to keep these countries down. Independent journalists who tried to bring these things out (like assange) are also hunted down and killed. There is no solution to this problem. Only option Haitians have is to get out.

I was in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in 1970, while in the Navy. We walked through these very same ghettos while in uniform and were NEVER accosted or felt like we were in danger. Most people we talked to were welcoming and courteous until the name Papa Doc Duvalier was mentioned. At the mention of that name even a 20 year old sailor could sense the fear it aroused. My most vivid memory is looking up the hill at Duvalier's massive pink estate / castle behind high spiked fences and armed guards. And yet twenty feet behind us was a bent over street sign covered with a tarp, home to a mother and 5 children. Haiti is a BEAUTIFUL island and should, or could, be the gem of the Caribbean. In my old age I see the U.S. headed for the same fate.

The problems is that we have elections about the same time that the US, we need to wait 2 more years to vote for president again. And here in Ecuador we don't have permission to buy guns to defemd ourselves (which might help but honestly that might make everything worse) so all we can do is to call for the authorities to take action, but the main problem is that the police doesn't have the financial support it needs to face the current situation.
