One other good piece of advice for Survival builds: As stated in the video, Survival main-hand weapons are typically slower than other Brutality or Tactics main-hand weapons. If you feel confident enough in your “don’t get hit” skills, going for a cursed chest or a no-hit boss fight and getting a colorless or legendary weapon out of it can be a huge boon to a Survival run. Some of the strongest Survival builds are ones where you don’t even have equipment that originally scales with Survival, since, with a fast attacking colorless weapon, you get the strength of extra health without the weakness of slow attacks!

I don't disagree at all. Cursed chests don't fall into the advice I typically give new players (unless I'm being a troll) :D But you're not wrong. It's a great strategy for a survival build.

I've only gotten to the end once so far and that was with a pair of spartan sandals out of a cursed chest. Getting a white item when the other three were purple made me take a chance and put all points in one basket. Now I see that that was probably what got me there, not just luck with affixes, I've had a habit of chasing hp instead of specialising

One thing to consider is the route that you are going to take, based on your equipment. Meele stuff only? Maybe skip the Ossuary, which is full of Thornys and slashers. Ranged build? Skip biomes with closed quarters an lots of monsters. An for the Survival build: You need some way to deal with flying monsters like bats and biters.

I once got a legendary lightning bolt after beating the concierge no hit and I reforged it to 100% more damage and 50% more damage on max hp. I used it on 2 bsc and won my first no hit hand of the king fight. Full survival with the punishment, sinew slicer and wolf traps.

Nice work! Something important to note is the utility of AoE shields (Blood, Punishment, Thunder, etc) in providing important mob management since Survival's slowness can often struggle in these situations. Shields also give you status inflictions which can better help with building synergy with your main hand weapons.

Here's a TL;DR for quick reference: 1. Survival is the best build for practicing your shield skills. 2. Be mindful of crit combos. Nutcracker crits when the target is frozen, rooted or stunned. Picking Frost Blast as secondary and Ice Bombs, Stun Grenades or Traps as skills is a good combo with the Nutcracker. But keep in mind that freeze doesn't work so well on bosses. 3. It is recommended to stick to survival or colorless mutations, and get the Ammo mutation if you wish to use the crossbow. Necromancy is a great mutation of newbies.

I did a really nice Nutcracker build once though it was a brutality in where I had a Nutcracker with a colorless Frostbreath, Ice Grenade and Root grenade with 175% extra damage to frozen enemies and 20% extra damage on a critical hit for my Nutcracker.

2BC is the hardest difficulty tier spike in the game. I had the hardest time with the 2BC HotK fight for a while. Kept on trying to mash the panic button!

as stated bellow by someone else colorless weapons exsist for every weapon. so you can have a weapon thats normally brutality only, but when its colorless it will stack with survival. colorless weapons stack with what ever skill is the highest making some really good meshing.

one of my latest 1bc runs had me use a legendary whip with an ice shield (among other survival things), and I could've beaten hand of the king, but I got greedy in the castle and went oof in a spike trap

I got to the hand of the king the first time on my like 5th run (took me much longer to get back, I didn’t even have all the upgrades yet, I had an invisibility collar as well) with a survival build by getting a poison based pair of boots that had like an auto parry when attacking somehow? Also had some crazy attack animations, then had a shield that did 80-100% extra damage when poisoned, and every enemy I hit was poisoned and when they died they exploded in a cloud of poison so it was just a chain reaction. It was nuts, haven’t been able to replicate the insane luck again though, only like 30 runs into the game though.

Not sure if the game is easier or something but started playing last night and already making it pretty far, Was going for a Frost Genade and hammer build just doing massive damage, Got super lucky and when I killed one of Golem Guardians I got a stun/frost shield at every block

So you said in another video that you should pick a color and stick with it. So I did. I had mostly green items and I went all in on green scrolls. But by the time I reached the Hand of the King, I only had maybe 5-6k health. I did decent damage but I was nowhere near the “Tank” that was insisted I would become. He took me out very fast and I was only able to get him down to about 60% health. This game is rough....

If you haven't already play custom and pick your starting weapons. You keep everything you earn just like normal mode but less time wasted on runs with bad combos.

Tip: if you have bad seed dlc, and you wanna do a ton of dps and you’re not great with shields, use the scythe claws build.

Hey only new to the game as of yesterday, can you choose which weapon you have unlocked from the very start??? Cause when I go to options it says weapons available, just wondering am I missing something

As a new file, no. That option comes later after you've unlockd some boss cells. You will soon see the option with the collector to start with a random weapon and random shield though. Those are good unlocks

It is a guaranteed drop, but don't know if the Android version has some differences? That is strange. I do fresh file runs all the time, and it definitely drops for me.

Yes, curse chests are worth it once you figure out mob patterns and can consistently get kill streaks. They offer colorless items which can really break a build (and the additional scroll is also bonus). I take them on every run... It doesn't always work out, but it's worth it when it does

I think Survival was EZ mode pre-1.9. Bosses might have been more tricky, but all you really needed to do was sneak up on all the enemies and get some CC skills like Ice Grenade as your subs while Necromancy healed you back up really easy in the late game. Also, Dual Scythes and Bouzouki was way too good and easy to unlock. My BSC 1-3 wins were all Survival. This is totally irrelevant now, though.

How to have 17k health? I just played the game, survival build, havent cleared once.. Run easy through the dungeon but last boss always 2/3 shot me to 1 health.. Do i really need perfect run fighting the last boss?

Be sure you're finding all the scrolls in each level (It's anywhere from 2-4 scrolls in each biome). That helps you get the max health for your build. For the final boss, I struggled with it at first as well. Good news is that he only has a couple of attacks, and he really telegraphs them. You don't need to be perfect, but considering you have flasks and should be able to take a couple of hits without getting knocked out, it's very doable. I don't remember which video I watched, but if you search for "Hand of the King Strategy" you should find a helpful guide or two on learning the patterns.

@@azudeus9362 Definitely don't skip scrolls. I'm trying to think of which patch that would have made sense, but yes, it is outdated now. Take every scroll you can get your hands on and dump them all into your primary build-type whenever possible (dual-scrolls you can spread out for HP or mutation purposes when you can't dump into your primary build). Correct - Dead Inside is 4BC where you grab that one.

Those are the recycling tubes that you unlock at higher difficulties. They give you more options for your starting loadout.

@@leoncabalista5496 Clearing all enemies isn't necessary, but that will give you the most cells. To progress the most I would focus in your flawless kill streak to get the kill doors over just killing all the enemies.

There are lots of setups that'll do the trick. The one that works the best depends on your playstyle. The Nutcracker + Wolf Trap combo is a good one you can use without having to worry about unlocks. I personally love using anything with flame. As the flame turret tends to chew through him. Combine that with an oiled sword and you get a lot of crits.
