You can use up to 90% LESS water if you installed an Ollas at every drip point. Clayola is one idea. But there are others. No mention of the labor and hassle to refill all those water containers twice a day. Oh and with an Ollas, water used is what the plant wants. No over watering at all either whereas with drip irrigation you have that risk. With anOllas, rain shuts them down until the plants want more water or the soil dries out then it automatically resumes. Ollas have been used for over 4000 years! Ancient technology at it's finest! Use your water containers to maintain water level in the Ollas.

I made 5 of them. They help a LOT. Due to my climate I still have to water. Like we say in my country, this video "hit one in the nail, another in the wood". I find very hard to believe it was done by agriculture engineers or other agriculture experts. One is a method of increasing the soil moisture (drip irrigation) and by comparison with traditional methods, save water, during drought or dry season just as mentioned. Perfect. The other is a method to dry the top layer of soil (raised bed). By allowing the water to percolate into deeper layers and by increasing wind and Sun exposure . Ridiculous! Sorry to say it's erroneous and misleading to whoever watch this. Don't get fooled a raised bed is an "architectural feature", not an "agriculture feature" with the single "advantage" of helping draining the soil, keeping roots drier. (Period) It will NOT improve the soil, make for better yield or improved crop, any claim of the previous is a lie. BTW other methods can accomplish the same drainage levels, mostly with less work. But definitely raised beds will add a lot of work and effort for no particular reason. Raised bed can be used in wet regions and flooded fields. Opposed to what is said in the video. It makes no sense at all, in arid and semi arid regions or dry/drought conditions. With the due respect, when advising people in difficult conditions. With the intention of "helping" make sure the "a_s as been out of the chair" long enough for the experience to count. Cheers
