The trick for the ice is either uninstall your front brakes so the steer axle still turns or dont brake at all and drift a fuckin box truck

I think because of how much grip you get from the goop, it would be smarter to give it a little throttle initially. Braking always seems to roll you as soon as you hit it.

Heavyweight downhill survival is so hilarious every time. The tanker was a particularly chaotic choice, but the extra weight can help you get pressure on your wheels for additional grip - at the cost of any hope of ever slowing down, and the cost of anyone who you hit on the way. Somewhat surprised we don't see the box trucks full of things, as it'd definitely make for a spectacle if they get disintigrated and all that cargo gets set loose. The little box truck did better than I would have expected, being light enough to actually drive on this ridiculous grading. Good thinking on that. Gliscor's sherp is basically cheating. That thing is not a heavyweight, it's an off-road vehicle literally designed for conditions like this. That said, it's not made to take hits from heavyweights so that option does indeed exist (and was fully used, it makes good confetti). It sows discord amongst the racers, causes people to create early shrapnel. The glambulance's mechanical siren scares me. A future Descent map that would be interesting is one where the majority is road. This one swaps between too little and too much grip, and the original was more of an obstacle course than anything, but one where there is an option to just send a car to reach, like, 500 mph and hope you don't destabilize before you reach the bottom would be an interesting concept. It's an aspect of performance that isn't considered that often, I don't think.

It's designed for ridiculous conditions like these. It's a real vehicle, called a Sherp, which can handle pretty much any height of mud or snow because of its wheels being nearly as big as the vehicle's whole footprint, and I think they float and function as paddles in water too. Kind of cheating to use it in this sort of round, though it's definitely not designed to take a hit if anyone decides to remove it from the run.
