Thanks for sharing your experience and wish nothing but the best of luck going forward. God works in mysterious ways. I had a house fire and lost everything 2 weeks before Christmas 2015, in a rental property, 1½ story bungalow built in 1936. Had it started an hour later I would have been fully asleep and wouldn't have survived because the fire started in the basement at a splice between the knob and tube wires, and more modern romex added during a previous renovation and the house was balloon frame construction. For those who are unfamiliar, this means much taller studs than are available today, running from the sill to roofline, with no blocking in the stud bays like we do in modern construction, also known as platform construction, allowing for the walls to act as a chimney. As I made it out the front door, flames were shooting through the roof and the entire rear of the home, where my bedroom was, was fully involved. Although I didn't receive any burns, I was treated at the hospital for minor frostbite in the toes of my right foot, hypothermia and smoke inhalation, kept until the following evening for observation.

Thanks for sharing your amazing story and the proof that God is real and does perform miracles. My suggestion to anyone with a second story window is to have a ladder you can put over the window sill ready and available, just in case it is ever needed. First of all, I am so amazed at the goodness of God in this situation. It's so clear to see how HE moved. My question is did you jump out of the window? Did you try to roll? Like what was going through your mind and was your Dad there when you jumped, if you jumped. Would you have changed anything about it? I just feel like if anyone else is in that situation, hopefully they wouldn't be, but what would be your advice, etc. Thanks so much for sharing your story

What was it like getting home with your daughter for the first time?

Getting home for the first time was amazing. During our time in the hospital we didn’t get much time together because of the differences in our recoveries. Being all together outside of the hospital was something we looked forward to so much. Don’t ever take for granted the ones you love. That month in the hospital was very difficult. But we made it and are excited to start living life as a family!

I'm just so curious. How far along in the pregnancy were you? Was you daughter born preterm at all? Was she in the nicu at all or was she completely healthy when she was born?

Rachel was 36 weeks pregnant when the fire happened. When Brynlee was born she was 5 pounds 13 ounces, but she was healthy! She never had to go into the NICU and actually got discharged 3 days after she was born!

The cause of the fire was undetermined. We are just so thankful to me alive and together as a family🙏🏽 Brynlee was born at 36 weeks at 5 pounds 13 ounces. She actually never had to go into the NICU! She was discharged only 3 days after she was born❤️
