I did! It was amazing! I have to upgrade the shovel. It takes too much time to figure out how to assemble it again and dig the hole with the small spade. If I had a bigger, sturdier shovel, I would have dug that hole in 10 seconds! Plus, it helps if I get stuck.

You are cracking me up! Lol!! I had a tough night and morning and wanted to share it in case someone can relate to it. I agree with you about GPS. It is convenient when accurate, but you only see a tiny box of your whereabouts. I lost my spatial awareness of where I am in the world. If I had an actual map, I probably wouldn't have gotten lost.

My dog, Tucker, is often my inspiration and the reason I drag myself out of bed in the morning. You have the ability to laugh at pain and turn your frown upside down. Many (Probably me lol) would have been so frustrated , I probably would have turned around long before you even stopped for the night , but you pushed on , pulled over and made an awesome night of it, you played it very spart following your GPS . Ron reminds me of my old dog Shadow would not come back to the vehicle unless I started the vehicle and he thought there was a ride coming up from him lol. I keep thinking I hope she got enough gas LOL. The views were awesome , tears deserved there , I hope you have an awesome week and your entire trip at the canyon is uneventful , or only good events LOL.

Don't ever let your dogs off leash in the outback. Remember those coyotes you heard? The will snatch one of those little dogs up and be gone with it before you can yell WTF! And never count on Google Maps or any of that GPS stuff. No good without cell towers. Star Link could save you and now they have the Mini Starlink out.
@KimannChessa
@KimannChessa Ай бұрын
I always try to keep them on a leash, but Ron is fast and sometimes darts out of the camper! It was eerie hearing the coyotes at night, and he didn't want to come back. I had a friend whose dog was killed by a coyote at a campground in broad daylight! It's scary! That was the first time I used offline maps with GPS, which messed me up! Never again! Next time, I would stop at the lodge and get a map and directions! Lesson learned! I was in an area with a lot of trees, and Starlink wouldn't have worked. I didn't know that they have a mini Starlink! It sucks that it is a significant investment for the equipment.
@mobiltec
@mobiltec Ай бұрын
@@KimannChessa The star link would have worked out there. You just point the antenna straight up. It will work. Might be a little jumpy but it works. I always plan out my trips ahead of time by looking at Google Earth. That map won't lie.
@KimannChessa
@KimannChessa Ай бұрын
Thanks for the Google Earth tip! I usually use it when scoping out boondocking sites, but I didn't with this one. I have to try your Starlink trick. I usually set it up and let it find the satellites on its own, but when there are a lot of trees, I can't get a signal that way.

Take a stick or something with you think coyotes are around you. You are so right! I was looking into the Garmin inReach or something similar, but then I thought I could use my Starlink if I didn't have a cell. It is not the same. I prefer to use public bathrooms or bag it and throw it away with the trash right away, but when I am in nature, I dig a cat hole. If I had a composting toilet, I would definitely use it, but I wanted to keep my rig the same for when I sell it. When living in a camper, you must cart around and dispose of your waste.
