Randy, my mom’s cousin was mauled by a grizzly with cubs in Denali National Park three summers ago. He had no weapons, no time to react. Nobody knew where he was, and he didn’t even have his ID. He was only spared by one of the cubs squealing, which drew the grizzly away. He was able to walk back to a road where a bus came by, that had some medical professionals on board. He was clawed, bit, AND EACH RIB WAS SEPARATED FROM HIS STERNUM. she did manage to stomp on him a few times. He was very fortunate to survive.

You forgot the animal nobody ever talks about "The Tic" it attacked me and I never knew it, it gave me Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (5% death rate) there's no cure and it comes back from time to time. If only I had a 357 or at least a pair of tweezers 😬

A bear tried attacking someone I use to know, he died from cancer awhile back, but he said when he shot the bear with his handgun that the hide of the bear is so thick that the bullets didn't even go through. After that incident he upgraded to a 50 caliber Desert Eagle.

This dude is only part right. Humans are ALSO often just as fast an agile as the fastest animals. Sometimes faster. An we got Elbows an Knees too. Also DON'T under estimate adrenaline. Basically SITUATIONAL AWARENESS in the Wild... AND ALWAYS be armed with a couple weapons of choice just in case think was his basic points. Maybe a spear or staff. The shotgun an them hand axes an Tomahawks ... Or just a big nice blade or strong pistol are my personal favorites

Hey bud, big fan. My story is of an aboriginal man I met in Kitimat BC selling salmon in the village. From a distance he moved like a young man but up close he had the face of a 70 year old. Straight up i asked him what the story was on his condition. "I had a bear accident". His story was of gutting a moose with his 12 year old son on a hunt, and a grizzly charged from the tree line. His son froze and he grabbed his 3030 lever action and it jammed. I asked him if he did panic, "It was slow motion" he could still see every step, every breath. The way he said bear accident struck me, it was like describing a fender bender in the parking lot. In the end his son grabbed a tree limb and attacked the bear with it and the bear backed off. His face had been ripped away from a swipe and was hanging from his chin, the bear had rag dolled him 20 feet in the air numerous times. Another father son team that was on the hunt caught up to the original shots, somehow they medivaced him out. A bear accident. cheers

Randy is great. I was waiting for him to say something about mountain lions and putting fake eyes on the back of your head. There are mixed results if you do a search online. It seems like most dangerous animals (assuming they're not hungry) don't want anything to do with humans, so if you give them a wide berth they'll detect you first and steer clear. Some large cats, however, will hunt and toy with prey for the sport of it.

This guy thinks the way I think. I have been an outdoorsman since I was a kid. You have to just be another predator. Like what he said, what we have that is part of our make up is we are tool makers. We are not born with the claws and fangs and musculature of animals, but we can craft better ones than what they were born with. Respect all life. At the end of the day we are predators among predators.

Definitely have a gun in Bear country and on Safari in Africa. I've been wondering, would a 12 Gauge, 3 inch, 1.5 Oz. 602 grain slug take down an Adult Male Lion?.
@glockguy41272 ай бұрын
Looked up the energy of your slug and 3 common African hunting rifles. You have the energy, just not the accuracy at distance. But a five rd shotgun IMO is better than a single or double set:hunting gun, especially defensively.

Some places in the north west require bear spray, was talking to one ranger and he made a valid point, "You shoot a grizzly you are being charged by a mack truck, you have to wait for him to bleed out, with spray it shuts down his sight and smell instantly,they turn and run (hopefully)"
