Scott, you are the epitome of a big kid having fun which is why I have fun watching Kentucky Ballistics. . Like a computer, everybody reverts to their 'Default' position. Training for example. When things are all a kerfuffle and I revert to my default, it is as a Professional Hunter in Ethiopia, in the 1960s. . My dad used six .50's against the enemy, so he understood high velocity, and so we didn't use British double barrel rifles to fling pounds of lead at Big Game, we had a .378 Weatherby Magnum to knock them off their feet. And my beloved .378 was comfortable doing scope sighted rifle stuff at 300 yards and beyond, where a 500 Nitro-Express was well into using artillery calculations. . So I, and maybe other hunters, would like to see what you may not have room to do and would cause you a great deal of production difficulty, a shoot-off between your cannons at hunting ranges. Terminal velocity comparisons, which may be more about bullets, but I don't know those things, but what the bullet does to the gel block at 300 yards should be different. . Might be fun.

So the original bullets where CNC machined proprietary copper-nickel alloy solids called " balanced flight" projectiles . There was a 305 grain bullet at about 3500 fps and the 419 grainer at about 3000 fps. There are also military bullets with tungsten carbide penetrators . After about 1000 yards , the 408 has more energy than a 50bmg and is capable of defeating anything the 50bmg can unless specialty bullets are needed ,like explosive rounds . The case was given a thicker web area and redesigned internal geometry vs. the 505 gibbs. The cartridge/m200 combo was proven to give sub-moa accuracy beyond 2500 yards . Doppler radar testing was used to verify ballistics at the army test range ,Yuma Arizona . The one truly comparable round to the .408 cheytac is the .416 barret . Steyr however has a secret squirrel military round that's even more potent , the .460 Steyr . Idk that it's ever been available in the USA , but it uses a modified .50bmg case necked down to about .45 caliber and drives a 600 grain solid bronze bullet to 3000 fps.
