Waking up to a new view whenever we want is one of our favourite things about this life. And we have had some absolute stunners that I know you will have seen in our vlogs. We do have to pinch ourselves sometimes as it honestly doesn’t seem real. Whenever we have a bad day, or we had one of those harder moments of boat life, trudging along muddy towpaths in the rain with our shopping, then a beautiful view the next morning makes it all worthwhile. The next video I am currently editing starts with the most gorgeous sunrise that Pete captured on the drone. 😊

Can't tell you how much I loved this video. We cruised the Llangollen in September. It was so cool to see it in the winter. And it was great that I was - the whole time "I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE EXACTLY!" and "We moored right there too!" Big hugs and warm wishes for you and all those you love for the coming year. It was also fun to share this video with our children and tell them all about our connections, meeting you all, and what a lovely time we had when we met you.

Well done for going all the way down to Llangollen Basin as many boaters turn around in Trevor Basin, as the Llangollen arm is very narrow and windey and can be difficult to turn around in the basin if full 👏👏 We enjoyed sitting in the beer garden of the Trevor Basin pub (can’t remember it’s name) and watching the narrowboats turning onto/leaving the Llangollen arm- very tricky. You captured a beautiful sunrise 🌅 It’s pronounced Trevor the same as in the gentleman’s name 👍 Your son Alex is very talented, hope he succeeded in his audition 🤞🏼🗣️
@onedaymoreaboard
@onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
We had a birthday celebration for Alex in that same pub overlooking the basin. I can imagine it’s quite entertaining watching the boats make that sharp turn especially in the height of summer! That’s for confirming the pronunciation, our first guess was right! We are so glad we made that trip to the very end. It was so much easier with so little traffic, and it was worth it for the beauty of the Llangollen basin and the town. Alex didn’t get that part, but shortly after that was filmed he was offered his dream job as a performer on a cruise ship. He’s absolutely loving it, especially as he gets to do a Frank Sinatra set too which he said the passengers really enjoy 😊

I watch almost all narrowboat videos. Deep inside, I think this is something I would really like to do. But I am not sure I am up to the task - it will take some lifestyle changes. I have to consider the sacrifices. But never mind. I do enjoy the videos. Forget the large cities and imposing cathedrals; the best of England can be seen from its many canals.

That’s how we started off, watching endless narrowboating videos! We somehow made it work for us. Pete already working from home for years made it easier to make the transition from house to boat and just fit that in with the lifestyle. His ‘office ‘ is just a lot more compact now, and my ‘editing suite’ for the vlogs is our bedroom when he’s on work calls! You’re so right that the beautiful UK is best seen from the canals! Yes, we are hoping drive up there to go and film then emptying the aqueduct as I’m sure that’s quite the spectacle and is not done that often! This series of videos was filmed during our winter 2022/3. We’ve always been about 6 months behind on our videos as we didn’t start putting them out to the public until at least 6 months into our time aboard, but we were always filming and taking photos of our travels for our own personal use really. Then we put out a tour of our boat on KZbin to show friends and family, and anyone else interested, and it went somewhat viral and we gained loads of subscribers and people asking about other videos. So that’s when we sort of ‘officially’ decided to vlog our travels properly for KZbin. Then this past year has been somewhat chaotic and very sad for us, as my Dad was very ill and I was helping care for him. He passed away a few months ago, and I took a total break from editing or filming during that time. Now I’m back to it, but the footage is now a year old. But people still seem to enjoy it judging by our views and lovely comments. Sorry for the long explanation, but just wanted to clarify to those new to our channel! Thanks for watching 😊

We laughed at that point too! No boats all day then just as we had booked the hoses then one magically appears 😂. At least it gave the boys a chance to practice their throwing and catching of ropes and hoses again ready for the big freeze!! We can’t imagine the boat traffic in the summer through those narrow sections and across the aqueduct. We’ve seen photos, but moved that we had the canal in those sections almost to ourselves during winter, and perfect for videoing on crossing of the aqueduct in particular with just us!! That made it even more special! Thanks for watching 😊

You mean in the narrows section? When I was walking ahead with the walkie talkie to see if anything was coming, Pete was waiting with the boat where the canal is wider. Once he had the all clear from me that no boats were coming then he started moving through the narrow section. If another boat had come after he started then I would have let them know that we were already in our way and they would have waited in the passing place. We can imagine it gets very clogged up in summer with boats waiting their turn to move through the narrows section! Thanks for watching 😊

Hiya, beautiful places, when the canal was frozen in 2017, used to move every 14 days because that was one of the rules if had not got a mooring. The warden at the time came and not on the boat, and said that " you have yo move the boat" i said you wanna go to Specsavers, if you think i am moving this boat in thick ice you can #######off. I said if you can move the pole off the top of the boat and break the ice on the canal i will move, he couldn't even get the pole off because with the ice and snow it of course was frozen.😂😂😂 I said and there was you thinking that you was man enough to do that, hence he went away with a flee in his ear roll, bloody stupid bossy sod , hope thats given you a laugh 😂😂😂.. Wow that sounds like a bit of a jobsworth there! I have to say, when we were frozen in on the Llangollen last winter, the CRT were wonderful when we called and explained our situation, as it messed with our plans to visit family over Christmas.
