Although I live and work in London UK🇬🇧but my motherland is Kenya🇰🇪where I was brought up but whenever your carrying duties ie hand-washing clothes yes you can sit down but the villagers will call/term that as laziness according to most cultures in African😄🤣therefore watch out such ESPECIALLY Greenyada you have excellent energy 100% my Kenyan🇰🇪brothers KINDLY reconsider asking her hand in marriage💑IF she isn't married Mmmmmmmm

In Jamaica 🇯🇲 we sit and wash that way will hurt your back and you need a wash brush to help you even though now most people in Jamaica used washing machine

The difference to hang the clothes inside out is to prevent discolouring by the sun, and the pants will dry faster

You should do it the way you feel comfortable. This actually is one of the issues in our African mentality, which is we are sometimes too rigid. The question should be which position makes you feel comfortable. Standing like that puts a lot of pressure on the back. When you are sitted it seems there is less strain on the back. Maybe we need a resident chiropractor to advise what position would be best. Most people do not consider the physical toll on how we perform work. Good experience.

@@nooromar6233 Yes. And how can you assume everyone you meet is in excellent shape. I worked with one lady that worked standing up in her cubicle. Her cubicle was next to mine. Never bothered me but found out later when I became friends with her and her husband that she had back problems. I will choose my health and comfort over traditions and customs everytime. What is important is the job gets done.

What is someone says washing clothes with hands is for uncivilized people because most modern people use washer and dryer machines like everyone does here in the US. Do not be too quick to judge. The fact is, people may prefer to do it sitting because it feels better for them ,not YOU. Nobody is stopping you from doing it how YOU want it. The goal is to wash the clothes not whether you stand or sit down while doing it.

And yes it is bad on your back to bend over like that, the safe ways is to squat, bend both of your knees , so you don’t injured your back, that is how we are train as a CNA,when we take care of our patients, never bend over to pick them up from the floor. Is amazing the way some Africans wash clothes I notice in Nigeria and Ghana they wash the same way. American and Caribbean people before washing machines use washing board to wash and hands like you are doing for just rinsing the clothes. But they hang the clothes to dry in side out like Kenyans..

Best way to do it is soak clothes first for about 30minutes to loosen dirt in clothes then start rubbing them ok
