This was an enjoyable intro to Hong Kong. I wonder if the food and metro apps were pre-pandemic? I barely scratched the surface, even when visiting for 2 weeks. In 2017, the hostel that I stayed at did a hike along the Dragon’s Back Trail (SE HK Isle), which gives great natural views and then goes down to a village with a beach at the end. Also, there is a book called something like “Cities Without Ground: Hong Kong” that shows maps of MTR station entrances, etc. Money is another adventure. I wish I brought more cash with me because filling up / buying the MTR Octopus Card or buying from many stores were cash only when I went. I also am not sure if I knew what I spent on food during my stay because I am a novice at currency conversion. FYI, I think the audio goes out of synch from 26:22 to 27:13.
@GeorgeHuxleyFАй бұрын
Awesome thanks for letting me know not sure what happened with the audio there Also yes I think the food and metro apps were around before the pandemic but not as big as they are today Most places now accept octopus card as well as cash! Glad you enjoyed the vid 👍

Really enjoyed your video. HK is a fascinating place with lots to discover. I think your haggling skills could improve as you can always get 50% of the asking price, it’s all part of the fun. It’s really expensive to live in HK due to rental costs but eating out can be reasonable if you know the right places, just look for the queues of locals and you won’t go far wrong! Keep making your vids 👍

25:01 Actually you were in a street called "金魚街", which means Goldfish Street, in Mong Kok. So that is why there are many stores selling fish and related stuff BTW, as a local, it is always interesting to see HK in a tourist prespective. Incredible job mate

For aquarium demands, as Chinese uses aquarium as one of the feng shui items, of course we are East Asian many people really likes to pet fishes, and reptiles pets are also welcome by us.

Hongkongers generally don't spit and wear masks if they're sick. Most people who spit on the street here are Chinese tourists. Also, the Star Ferry can't take you across any river; it takes you across Victoria Harbour. The thing you mentioned about the financial center spreading from West Kowloon (which was reclaimed only two decades ago) to Hong Kong Island is also far from accurate. And FYI, both the ladies' market and temple street market target tourists who want to buy cheap (and low quality) goods. I don't think there's much for locals in those markets
@GeorgeHuxleyFАй бұрын
Ah thanks for educating me on that, from my understanding the sky 100 building was the IFC 1 and the other one in central was IFC 2 but I may have been misinformed Thanks for clearing that up 👍

keep them coming, people are watching, enjoying it. You talk in a lot of depth about things, Though you often point the camera at yourself, it'd be good to show the environment around you, let viewers experience a bit of what youre describing.
