For all tourists coming to Uzbekistan, we have our local gypsies, trust me they are neither poor, nor suffering. Its their "culture" to beg and dress in a certain way. If they bother you - just tell them that you will turn them in to police - they will go away. But generally, they are not harmful) And also, about the "overpriced" bazaars, yes the prices for locals are different, but converting everything to USD - that was not much. I think traveling to any country people should be prepared to encounter touristy prices. Except for the incident with the gypsy girl - I hope you enjoyed your trip to Uzbekistan! You are always welcome here.
