I traveled with my brother and I remember my Mother crying before we set off on our holiday thinking she’d never see us again. Lol. I was 21 years old. Stalin move around many ethnic group all over Russia...mostly because they do not want that particular ethnic group to rised up and rebel, not because they look like something else...that is why he relocated many Crimean tartars to Siberia because if the Tartar stay at Crimea that are near to Turkey they might rise up and rebel. Same with Circassia people who forcefully kick out from Circassia and many today like in Syria and Turkey. Only the Chechen stay and fought long enough until the Russian gave up lol.

OMG! I know we, Uzbeks, and Tatars speak languages that are from the same linguistic family, but I didn't think they were this similar 🤯 Lilya's mom speaking Tatar got me thinking she was speaking in Uzbek. Thanks for this beautiful content!

Tatars and Uzbeks are both Turkish tribes they both speak Turkish dialects. Tatars speak Turkish Kıpçak dialect, Uzbeks speak Turkish Çağatay Dialect and In Turkey and Azerbaycan they speak Turkish Oğuz Dialect. In Turkey they speak Turkish Anatolian Oğuz Dialect and in Azerbaijan they speak Turkish Azerbaijan Oğuz Dialect. Yes Uzbeks and Tatars are speaking the same language which is Turkish but with different dialects. I am from Türkiye and I can understand her when she speaks Tatar dialect I also visited Uzbekistan and I was able to understand Uzbek dialect most of the time.

Eli, that's terrific you have a Koren friend in Tashkent. You're such a friendly person. I'm wondering if you actually have a friend in all 195 countries of the world. As for Uzbekistan, I knew nothing of its history. It's interesting to learn these things. There's so much we are not taught in school. But you always point out the good things about people and that most people everywhere are friendly and want to be helpful.

Great work as usual, but gotta say your closing thoughts really resonated with me. Sure, we often hear that kind of thing in our daily lives, but the way you and your aunt put it was exactly how I needed to hear it right now. Thus, I thank you twice!

Very interesting video, thanks for this. I am visiting my grandmother in Fergana right now and really enjoyed watching this clip. I know Tashkent only from my parents stories when they studied in the 80s in Tashkent. They always speak very well about Tashkent.

I'm from the Czech Republic, I took my son on vacation last week. We passed through Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The main difference between Western Europe and the East is the people. In the east they are much friendlier. I have visited more than thirty countries of the world and I can confirm with certainty that the drier the country, the better the people.

I have been to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and I agree with you people were amazing 😍 so I visited them again and again several times. I hope you also visited Semerkand and Bukhara in Uzbekistan cause the Uzbek traditional architecture is so beautiful. Those cities are like a time machine. And fun fact Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Babur's Grandson and Emperor Babur was the grand son of the Uzbek Emperor Timur.
