I'm a huge fan but disappointed that Durban was left out, or any mention of the influence SA Indian food has on SA. Durban has the largest population of Indians outside of India in one city. We have been here for generations and consider ourselves South African and a part of the culture. This makes me question what other omissions you make in other videos.

Did you also notice that other part of South African culture coming through so strongly? Boozing it up! SAB South Africa's biggest killer by far and one of the main reasons for our poverty and low productivity. Especially when done on a Monday morning. This is a brilliant documentary that deconstructs South African society through food. Understanding the history, ingredients, and cooking techniques offers valuable insights into South Africa's cultural, social, and economic complexities. One thing you have to say about us South Africans: WE LOVE OUR MEAT! I think a lot of South African cuisine is kind of the same, but also every ethnic/geographical group have their own special and unique way of making it and then of course each of us have a few dishes that are just completely unique to that ethnic group. Nevermind segregation, talk about INTEGRATION! Absolute amazing show of so our heritage within less than two hours! PS: Kallit (coloured) from Namaqualand in the Northern Cape here. You made a massive curve towards the opposite sides of the country and missed us up here towards the northwest border of the country! And yet I still feel included as a South African.. Those are my people and that is our food!

I've been on a bit of a binge of your videos lately and I'm in love!! You and the team bring these various cultures to us, most of whom will likely never experience them and it's brilliant. Also, your handling of difficult topics is superb, as you treat them all with respect and care. As for the Zebra, fantastic shot!!! 250m or 275yd is not always easy, especially with wind and shrubbery. Don't feel guilty about the first shot, the nerves get to you and it makes it all difficult (unless you're a professional hunter in which case it diminishes over time). In German its called Jagdfieber. I love that you also actually ate it, which unfortunately doesn't always happen. Waidmannsheil from Germany!! South Africa seems to be the country for me... meat everywhere🤤!!

Great vid! I came across your channel a week ago and subscribed cause I liked the pace you go at. The coverage excellently portrayed the diversity of South African cuisine. I sometimes find it difficult to explain to my foreign students when they ask about South African "cuisine", because we are so diverse here and everyone brings their magic to the table. Sorry that Durban was left out and the infamous Cape gatsby, lol. But there was a clear theme to the video and well presented. I'll recommend it to my students when they talk about South African cuisine again.

You're a good man, Sonny... I was in a deer stand at the age of 15. A doe and buck came out of the wood line, and when I squeezed the trigger, I hit it right in the heart. It was a good, clean kill.
